    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My experience at BCLP has been brilliant. The graduate recruitment team is incredible and the selection process was well organised and transparent. The training sessions provided by the firm are thorough and substantial, providing all trainee solicitors with the tools they need to succeed on their tasks and feel more confident about the work they are doing. There is a healthy balance between office work, training, interesting talks and social events happening throughout the year, making your day-to-day a lot more interesting. The office has a very friendly attitude and everyone makes an effort to make you feel at ease from day one. I had the opportunity to learn from extremely talented individuals that dedicated their time to share their knowledge with me in a friendly and approachable manner. Overall, this was a very enjoyable experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • There was a consistent effort to provide me with a diversified workload, which helped me to develop a wide range of skills and certainly enhanced my knowledge of Real Estate. I was provided with a strong support network and got valuable feedback from everyone I had the pleasure to work with. The work I was producing was appreciated and valued by my colleagues. I felt very much as part of their team and at ease to freely express my opinions and ideas.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had informal weekly catch up sessions with my supervisor where we would discuss my performance and satisfaction with the placement. She was genuinely interested to know whether I was enjoying my tasks, if they were interesting and challenging enough. she always asked if there was anything in particular I would like to learn more about so she could ensure I was getting a good range of experience. On my daily tasks I was always supported by the team, who took the time to ensure I not only understood the task at hand but also the background reasons as to why certain things needed to be done. I felt comfortable to ask questions at any time and approach them for help whenever needed.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was a good amount of work and it was evenly distributed within the team. It allowed me to spend the necessary time to learn more about the tasks I was performing and understand their background without ever being bored. Some weeks are busier than others but always very manageable.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There is a great amount of training and development sessions. The firm wants to ensure you are prepared and have all the knowledge you need to be at your best performance. There are sessions that focus on self development, soft skills and tools to settle into an office role, which I found incredibly helpful. People were always very generous with their time, happy to share their knowledge and explain things in detail. This helped me to develop a more even understanding of my tasks and the context surrounding them, increasing considerably the value of this wor.
