    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Loved this placement! It gave me a really great insight into the marketing industry - before i started I only had a vague idea of what this actually meant! I was able to find out about all of the different teams and see what they do on a daily basis. I was given a really interesting and meaningful project to contribute to which I had to write up and present. Wish it could have been longer!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued by the company! Everyone was incredibly friendly and supportive and seemed happy to have me on board. I was given my own project to work on independently which I had to write up and present. My manager also presented some of my preliminary findings in the company meeting. I was given quite a lot of freedom to decide how to approach the project which made me feel trusted and valued.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received lots of support. My manager met with me regularly to discuss my project and progress and was always able to help out and answer questions if needed. He also arranged for me to meet with people from lots of different teams to find out more about their specific roles within the company, which was incredibly insightful and useful. Everyone at the company was incredibly friendly and always more than happy to talk about their careers and give general advice.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Throughout the placement I really felt that I developed my organisation and time-management skills - being able to complete everything to a good standard before a deadline is something that will be very useful in my degree. I also had to write up and present my work, and my manager was able to give really useful feedback on how I could improve. Getting an insight into all of the different roles within this industry was very useful and will really help me to make informed decisions on my career path moving forwards.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured. On the first day, I had an induction and my manager outlined an overview and timeline for my project which we reviewed regularly throughout the placement to make sure that I was on track. There were regular meetings that I attended each week and also certain internal deadlines that I had to meet. This really helped to give the placement structure and ensure that my work was focused. My manager set aside time so that I could find out about the other teams and departments within the company. At the end of the placement I had to present my work which was a very useful experience.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Fantastic! This is a really amazing company where every member is made to feel valued! Everyone seems to get on incredibly well, and although everyone works incredibly hard, the office just feels so friendly, fun and relaxed. The company gives out free breakfast, has lots of different social events and also has hot-desking so that you might get a new graduate or intern sitting next to a manager! This makes everyone feel really valued and integrated. There are whole-company meetings once a week which I really enjoyed going to!

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Even though I was only there for a short period of time, they made a real effort to make sure that I was getting as much out of the experience as possible. They asked me at the beginning what I wanted to get out of the placement and helped structure it around my goals. They also arranged for me to go round all the different teams and talk to different people so that I could find out what they do. They also gave me a lot of feedback on my work which helped me to know how to improve my skills.

As I was able to meet people from different teams and departments I was also able to find out about a range of different roles within the company which was great for future career planning.
