The Role
The placement was hugely beneficial, very varied with no two days the same. A vibrant and lively place of work with plenty of nice surprises throughout the year. Overall a very enjoyable and worthwhile placement.
It was clear from the whole department they needed another pair of hands and someone to manage the projects that just wouldn't get done otherwise. Everyone was able to utilise my role and treated me the same as any other member of the team. Often reminded of how important my contribution has been.
Plenty of guidance was given with multiple people available to offer support when needed. Managers also took the time to explain in detail how various technologies worked to improve my own knowledge and understanding of the field.
There were quieter days due to the varried nature of the role. However, as time went on and I gained more responsibilites, there was always plenty of work to do.
A wide variety of responsibilities, ranging from reoccurring tasks, dealing with issues as they arise to managing projects. Some responsibilities included managing the technical running of VIP screenings on new Disney Channel Original Movies to looking after purchases and payments for a multimillion pound project. It's safe to say there was some significant responsibilities and trust from my management.
I learnt as much throughout this job as I did in my first two years at uni. The year provided an insight into how the broadcast industry works on a large scale with a chance to see and be apart of it in action.
The Company
A vibrant and exciting place to work. Bright and full of cheery people.
Being the first intern of the department there was a certain level of feeling out the role. That said much thought had already been given to what was needed and the tasks and projects I would be handling.
Any oporunities that aross for me to further my learning through seminars and workshop or if there was an area I wanted to learn more about my managers were incredibly helpful in helping and arranging for that to happen.

The thought of working for Disney again is very appealing.
The Culture
There are around 30 interns working in for Channels is Chiswick and many more working in the other Lines of Business in our other London offices. Many nights out happening amongst the intern and there is a good vibe amongst everyone.
Travel, renting and generally the cost of everything is very expensive in London. If I wasn't getting paid I wouldn't be able afford to live in London.
It's London! A huge variety of nightlife to suite all types is litterally on your doorstep.
The business park has a company called Enjoy Work which is dedicated to helping workers by providing a range of activities outside of work, discounts in the local area and making workers aware of what's going on locally. Disney often offers advances screening of new films as well.
