    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I had a good time at Argos. The staff was great. Everyone was really nice. The work itself was easy. There wasn't much to it. Manning tills and also retrieving items from the storage. Manning tills was sometimes difficult depending on the customers though. Overall I cannot complain about the work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I do feel that working in a place like Argos , you are a small cog in a machine. There was not much that I could have done to stand out as much as other people who were full time. That being said I don't feel like I was abused or made to work silly hours.

    3/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • My manager was great training me. She was always ready to help me when I was starting out and made the job easy. This was especially true when dealing with difficult customers or in some situations were refunds needed to be processed. I didn't feel like I was alone in the job.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I don't think this job will impact my studies too much as I am doing a business course. This hasn't been very fruitful in the way I would have hoped. However there were instances in ways of dealing with customers that I have learnt. Just have to be more patience with them.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was good. There were parts of ways of working then moved on to the actual job. However most of it was actually Manning the tills etc. It would have been nice to see more of the business side of things to get better insight of how much money Argos earn.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was good. My team was great. We all had banter. It was generally fun to be around like minded people for a change. Never a dull moment there even when things got quiet the work would keep you busy and engaged. Overall I can not complain about it.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My manager and team mates where always there for me. When I needed help they were there for me. I didn't feel as if I was lost at any time. They were really good at giving instructions and where easy to learn from. I never felt like they would ignore me, they always helped.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It did feel like I was an actual member of the staff. I did work they would do. So I feel like I had gained enough knowledge and experience to feel at home working full time with them. There were obviously some instances where tasks were not meant to be completed by me , but I still feel like I know what I would get into.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I fully understood the culture. The staff was great to be around . I wasn't left alone. Management was always kind to me and there was loads of banter. I felt that the the placement gave me the right idea about how the culture is in the company, and it's great there

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid adequately and on time. For a student it was great to get paid to learn and increase my knowledge for the future. I have no complaints about the pay it was great earning while at uni as it is tough to be a student living out and getting money was great.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was plenty opportunities to network. There were many meetings held to talk to individuals in the company and also my team mates knew other and introduced me to make sure I had many people to contact once I left the placement so I can get back to them and carry on where we left off.
