The Role
My internship provided me with a breadth of skills and insight into the marketing world. At times I was left with little to do, but overall the experience was very enjoyable alongside a great culture. The Clubcard team immersed me into a place of marketing which I didn't know about but also was an integral part of the company
I felt very welcomed into the team from the start of the internship. Even though I was amongst a team of experienced experts, colleagues ensured that I was exposed to all different channels in the team so that I could gain as much knowledge as possible. One of my goals was to feel valued within a team, and by the end of it, my manager confirmed that I was.
Support was always there by my manager and others more higher in the team. This was done by experiences out of the office to further my understanding of the company. Everyone was always willing to help you out of go for a coffee to catch up whenever I was stuck or wanted to talk.
In the first 4 weeks, I was finding my feet more so tasks were not very hard, therefore, I was left with not much to do and little responsibility. My days were shorter, however I was not very busy. Nonetheless, after I understood the role more I felt I was becoming more busy as people trusted me with tasks more or I could create more roles for myself.
The first half I was given very little responsibility as I was not experienced in the role, however, they were were training me up to make sure I was more confident and experienced for other colleagues to delegate tasks. By the last 4 weeks, I was given many tasks to do on a daily basis which stretched my skills
I have graduated from university, therefore, the skills I have learnt will be hugely beneficial for my future jobs which I hope to pursue in the future. Being more analytical from working with budget sheets have created a better understanding of working on excel which is essential in a more digitalised society. Being able to communicate with people at different stages in life with various experiences have created confidence to work in the working world
The Company
My internship was during the summer, therefore, my office was generally quieter than usual as lots of people were on holidays. The marketing office was more part-time and family orientated and not as young, therefore as a graduate the social aspect wasn't as great, but the atmosphere was very chilled and relaxed, where hot-desking is always available.
It was moderately organised. The schedule was very organised from the offset as a whole and they always tried to make sure we had a check in's to see how we were doing and if we were being fulfilled in our role. There could have been a more social aspect with the other interns though
Tesco really did invest in me and felt like I was valued along the whole way. There were always so many opportunities to work in different functions to broaden my understanding. From the start to the end I have achieved all my goals and hopefully, continue to work for Tesco. Tesco ensured that I was always up to date with what I was doing to ensure I completed the task at my best

Yes, they are very appealing to me and this is something I really want to pursue as they provide me with so many opportunities to grow within the industry. Different kind of roles are always arising throughout the company, the ability to switch functions if needed is very accessible. I am in the process of applying for a job within my team which was recommended to me!
The Culture
Between the other interns and graduates the social scene was okay but could be improved. They definitely attempted to create a social side but I feel the location of the office and I am located in London was a downside. My colleagues in my team were all based around the office therefore never socialised in London. However, I created a small group of close intern friends
I lived in Finsbury Park in North London in a Spare Room. I loved where I lived but meant living in London was a lot more expensive and travel was also very expensive. However, I feel living in London if you are a sociable person makes the experience a lot better. I paid £600 a month and got my room off Spareroom.com and the train was £9.05 return a day, but bear in mind that twice a week you can work in London office or work from home!
Where the office was located the nightlife was non-existent! There is one nice pub which is nice and affordable but if you like to socialise and like to go out Welwyn Garden City is not for you. However, commuting to London is very easy and quick - 20 mins to go to the pub or go out
Yes there were a few, but personally did not get involved with them as I lived in London so a longer commute home
