    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I did enjoy the insight quite a bit. I was mainly going around to people's houses and assisting an electrician in helping with people's issues and this was fun as I got to communicate with new people and apply my knowledge of electricity from Physics, an area of Physics I had not really explored before.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I did feel quite valued during the insight as I was given an active role in helping the electrician help people. Helping the customers made me feel valued as it showed that I was making an impact in the world and also that I was actually trusted enough to do so.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a lot of guidance and support during the insight. I was assigned to an electrician and he gave me lots of support and advice regarding the tasks that we were involved in every day and also he gave me advice for the future, after university which was very helpful.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that the communication skills I developed will help me a lot in the future. On top of this, the information about electrics that I received will provide me a strong foundation so that it will be easier for me to learn more about the electricity modules in the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was kind of well structured. Given that there are new issues to deal with everyday, structure was not expected. However, it was nice how I was slowly taught more about electricity each day and I was able to apply this, offering advice and even helping in situations when required.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmopsphere was very fun during my insight. The electrician I was assigned to was really nice so when spending time with him, it was really fun and it was easy to make conversation. Going to people's houses allowed us to share this atmosphere and this made it even more fun.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of personal training and development, they invested a lot into me. They provided me an opportunity to develop my communication skills when working with customers. They also let me learn about electricity and I think they invested quite a lot into me when teaching me and giving me knowledge about this.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight really did help me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with Sky as I got to witness first hand what an electrician would do and I also got to get involved with some of these tasks myself so I got experience of this too.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight did help me to understand company culture quite well as it seems that the electricians were all very nice and willing to help people. It also made me realise the importance of this job for wide maintenance of electrical devices and even just mains electricity so this industry is very important.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The insight was quite valuable in helping me decide on a future career path. Previously, I had always found electrics quite boring in university so never really considered a career in it but after this, I found it much more interesting and am potentially considering a career in such a field.

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was reimbursed expenses for travelling to the central office and I was reimbursed the costs for my lunch which was very nice as I did not have to worry much about money. I was paid on top of this which was even nicer as I enjoyed the insight anyway and this made me feel valued.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were many opportunities for networking when working at the office as well as when working outside of it. I was assigned to an electrician so I could socialise with him and back at the office, there were many employees that I could talk to and learn from as well as they were all willing to help.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking and social opportunities were quite good. The electrician I worked with was really nice so I could socialise with him quite easily. At the office, the other employees were also really nice and I also got the opportunitiy to talk ot them about work and their other passions outside work.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I did find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside work. When driving to different homes, he often talked to me about the social scene outside of work as well as some conventions for electrics that the employees can get involved in to vastly increase in knowledge about such.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would absolutely recommend this insight if you are pursuing Medicine or Electrics. Often, electricity can be the most boring module in Physics but this provides you a new, more fun, perception on it that will make you enjoy it so much more when learning about such modules in the future.
