    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time working at Pfizer. I feel that I have been very well supported throughout the year, with great opportunities to develop my career. I will deeply miss working at Pfizer, as I have made some wonderful friends, and lasting memories with my amazing team. I feel very grateful for my time spent working at Pfizer, and all the new experiences I have gained.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues would often praise and recognise my hard work. They actively invested in my career development, encouraging me to take part in additional training and arranging one to one meetings to track my progress. From the beginning I was made to feel part of the team, and was tasked to take on more and more responsibilities as I progressed.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager(s) were always offering their support, either by having informal coffee breaks where they would offer guidance on particular projects, or setting up purpose driven meetings to help me develop. My managers were always very approachable and friendly, so asking for help was something that I felt confident in doing.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • When I first started my daily activities naturally built up over time, however after OFG my role changed and meant I became a lot busier throughout the day. I would prefer to come in earlier to work to ensure that I had enough time to complete all my work on time. However this busier daily workload suited me well, and I really enjoyed working on different projects.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility throughout my time as a Global junior brand manager. I was leading on multiple projects, and managing multiple internal and external stakeholders. Working on international congresses meant that I was frequently asked to travel overseas to represent the global team, there I was acting as commercial lead to manage our exhibition booth.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Both the extensive soft and hard skills I have developed over the past twelve months at Pfizer will enormously benefit me in completing my degree and further career. I have been able to complete multiple training qualifications, build my confidence to lead and inspire others, and learn how to effectively collaborate within large global teams to achieve stategic goals.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere is quite quiet and relaxed. However the canteen is always busy, with music playing and little stalls selling gifts in 'the street'. Fridays in particular are very quiet as most colleagues would work from home. The way the offices are designed, all teams sit close together, which is nice as it means you can have regular discussions with your co-workers.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My overall placement was very well organised. I had a clear training schedule with additional opportunities to take further qualifications and network with other cross functional colleagues. I also had set allocated projects to work on, with the flexibility to take on new responsibilities. My manager was also very supportive of helping to structure my personal development based of my goals.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel that Pfizer deeply invested in my training and personal development throughout my placement. I was able to attend multiple training courses over a diverse range of functional areas such as finance, digital and marketing. Pfizer also invested in all of my global travel to attend large medical education conferences and tactical op plan meetings.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The prospect of remaining at Pfizer is incredibly appealing as I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working at Pfizer. Pfizer has such a great working environment and organisational culture, both of which are very important when looking for employment opportunities. Pfizer's strong purpose to deliver breakthroughs and drive change for patient is what motivates me to hopefully continue working for them.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Unfortunately due to living further away from the office I was restricted to my level of outside work social events. However from what I have heard, the nearby areas did not have the best nightclub scene, although there are some nice local country pubs for after work drinks. The majority of the placement students travelled into London for a night out.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Surrey is a more upmarket area so prices do tend to be a it more expensive, however not to the extent of London prices. I believe Redhill and Epsom tended to be a bit cheaper, with more local restaurants offering good deals on food. I live in Guildford, so there are quite a lot of student discounts being so close to the university of surrey.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As mentioned in my previous question, the night life near Tadworth is not brilliant, the closest night club is probably fever in Epsom which features mostly current pop music. Most of the placement students preferred to have house gatherings instead, or travel into London to go on bar crawls/ clubbing.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes there were lots of opportunities, I got involved in STEM learning sessions within the local community, volunteering days, group sporting events and charity days. Other examples include marathon training, gym classes and summer bbq's.
