The Role

1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

There were many opportunities to do new things and meet interesting people, but it was also just a very friendly office. I was surrounded by people who were always happy to help and it was a flexible and fun environment. I was rarely bored and always had something to do.

2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

Everyone was always happy to chat and I felt like I could reach out to people and find out more about their role. If I was interested in something, someone would always take the time to chat to me about it. I was always included in workplace chat, and was never made to feel like an outsider by people in my team.

3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

I was given lots of helpful feedback and I could always ask for a short catch-up to make sure that the work I was doing was progressing in the way that they wanted. Only issue was that they went on holiday for a couple weeks, but that can't be prevented in summer.

4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

It depended on what I was doing- I had days where I was just researching and was not that busy, but there were also days with many meetings and different tasks to do. I would have liked to have more of an opportunity to get away from the desk/ office.

7/10

5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

I wasn't given a huge amount of responsibility, but I did feel like the work I was doing was important to the team. I was doing a lot of research and advising rather than actions, but it felt like the team were trusting me to give them decent insights that they could consider.

6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

I'm now far more confident with networking and coping in a corporate office environment, which I had never experienced before this internship. I can build connections and relationships with different people within the company to gain insights, analyse that information and apply those findings to the work my team is doing.
