The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement. It has given me the opportunity to really understand the how a charity can work at such scale whilst maintaining a personal touch. Overall I cannot fault the experience, this was the first internship where I haven't felt like an intern but a valued member of the team.
My colleagues were one of the most lovely groups of people I have ever met! Supportive and inspiring, no question ever too silly. They took a real interest in my personal development and what I wanted to get out of the experience, tailoring my tasks accordingly. they were also great at giving constructive feedback so that I was able to improve throughout the process.
Again, my manager was great. When I arrived she has set my desk up with name label and personalised post-it notes making me feel settled right away. She also made my role very clear from the onset whilst providing me opportunities throughout to consider areas of personal development that I wanted to improve upon. This allowed me the opportunity to really think about what I wanted to get out of the experience.
This varied, but in general pretty busy! There was always something I could be doing, providing me with a great opportunity to utilise and develop prioritisation skills. Plus with the added option to join the intern fundraising committee there was always something to think about making the days fly by.
I was given a considerable amount of responsibility, a lot of my team worked from home which meant I was trusted to be working independently from the office, helping them where required.
Amazing! Thee were multiple training mornings and helpful documents online that could be utilised. At the beginning of any session we were always asked what did WE want to learn, as apposed to just hearing what they wanted to tell us. It was probably the first time I've had such an hasis on personal development.
The Company
Friendly atmosphere easy to chat with anyone.
My goals and tasks were clear and I always had work to do. I was needed so felt like I added real value to the team! Can't fault.
They really gave us the opportunity to consider personal development. Offering both a mentoring scheme which was so useful, learning from someone likeminded but who was a lot further through their career was great. They were able to offer advice and challenge your thoughts so that I was more confident in my career ambitions.
Sports and Social Club
Will actively seek the right job opportunity here!
The Culture
Everyone was really friendly, but probably spent more time with my team than the other interns. The intern fundraising was a great way to get to know one another.
Expensive as in London, but that is to be expected.
So many places to go in London, mainly kept central as many interns had about an hours commute in.
Yeah there were yoga and other clubs that we were introduced to on our induction days. I didn't personally get involved but if you wanted to, there is defiantly scope to do so.
