    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very much enjoyed the internship with a chance to work on a range of projects. I was given responsibility to complete tasks with as much supervision as was needed. This is an enjoyable internship starting from the induction right through to the very end. the six weeks go very quickly.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I always felt valued by my colleagues despite being an intern the people in the team were always welcoming. This was evidenced by how regularly more senior members of the team were willing to involved me in projects. The team I was working with also made sure I wasn't under pressure from having too much work.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given more than adequate support and guidance during my internship. I was able to ask any questions I had and be confident that I would get a helpful response. This extended to anyone I was working with no matter of their position in the team. This made learning a lot easier.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In short you can be as busy as you want to be. Naturally there were fluctuations but in general there was always something to be doing. Having said this people are wary not to overburden you and make sure you are happy with what you are doing before you start on a task.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given plenty of responsibility during my internship to the point that I was allowed to work on a wide range of tasks. As you'd expect the work I produced was thoroughly checked once done but I was given plenty of scope to complete it alone or with help if needed.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I would say the data handling skills and data interpretation will be invaluable moving into the final year of my degree. I have also gained a greater commercial awareness which was one of the main reasons for doing an internship. I look forward to using my newfound knowledge in the future.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There were quieter times when people were on annual leave but in general there was plenty of activity in the office. There is a very friendly vibe in the office and people always seem willing to help. There was also a sense of professionalism with people focusing intently on work when required.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I could not point out any fault with the organisation of the internship. From start to finish we were well looked after with each part of the process adequately explained. This was very helpful as it made me feel more comfortable and relaxed about going into such a large firm.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had an hour per day of specific training related to the role in the first week. This was very much helpful as it gave a good background of understanding early on which made me more useful in future tasks. The people delivering the training were competent and clear despite a few technical hiccups.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Having been offered a graduate job the prospects are very promising from my perspective. This reinforces PwCs position as one of the best graduate employers. Also many of the existing staff completed internships with PwC at some point and resulted in their hiring so it's a fantastic gateway into the firm.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • With a strong presence of graduates there was plenty of social opportunities and events. This ranged from going to watch cricket at the oval to a rounders social in the park. This was useful as it helped the interns get to know people quicker in a relaxed social environment.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living in London is expensive as is well known as are bars and clubs. However, if money is well managed it is possible to live affordably. Big factors are making sure you plan meals in advance as going out for lunch every day becomes very expensive very quickly as some people find.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • One of the perks of being in London is that there is an abundance of Nightlife. This is obviously key for any prospective intern. The main places to go out seem to be in and around Shoreditch however there is plenty of choice regardless of where you are which is great.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was plenty of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. This could be in the form of socials or meals with the team. There are also a range of clubs to get involved in such as Touch Rugby which is something I was offered to get involved in.
