The Role
Did a variety of different Auditing Tasks, however sometimes i had little or no work to do and had to wait along time before i could resolve these issues with another team member. However i did experience a variety of different tasks and clients. The work could have been planned better for me but this can be a struggle with the nature of the company.
They treat you very well. They value you like a team member and are expected to participate in all team discussions. we often went out for team lunches and i felt as if i had been working at PWC for a very long time. They made you feel very welcome.
Everytime i had a question, i could always ask it and be given support. Everyone on the team wants to help you and encourages you to ask as many questions as possible. Sometimes i found their initial instructions where confusing to follow, but after some questions i understood the tasks.
It varied day to day. Some days i had the perfect balances of jobs, however sometimes i often had to many tasks ongoing or too little. I was working normal working hours for the firm, sometimes doing overtime if necessary. But i would of prefered it if i would of had more work on some occasions.
One of the highlights of the internship. I was often left to deal and communicate with clients alone. In addition i was given completely control of the tasks which i had to do. Speaking to clients was a bit frightening the first time but you get used to it ok!
No better experience then being here for 6 weeks! You learn a lot of fundamental accounting laws as well as more specific technical training for auditors. Very transferable skills to any finance related job or degree. You also improve your team work and communication skills. Hence developing your skills alot.
The Company
Positive. Everyone is really friendly and welcoming. If you have any questions you can approach anyone. Everyone wants you to get involved as much as possible, such as the social we had to Thorpe park! Everyone seems genuinely happy to work there, compared to some other work places where people just walk in and out.
I got detailed joining instructions on my introduction residential trip. With clear schedules for the 3 days there. After that it was 2 days in the office to organise all the adim side and ask any questions you may have. However the work could have been organised better, i sometimes didnt know where i was going the next day and very late in the evening.
The first 3 days was a residential trip where we had a variety of classes and team building exercises. As well as breakfast, lunch and dinner all paid for. After that kt was clear that they did want to invest in you as much as possible. As Managers and Directors where always happy to talk to you.

You are very likely to be offered a job if you perform well. Hence why the recruitment process for the internship and graduate roles are the same. Its more a question of if you see yourself working here full time compared to if they would want you to work there.
The Culture
General cost of living in Southampton is relatively high, being the south cost and not a million miles away from London. But its ok, and there are lots of places to socialize. Modern shopping center, nice parks and restaurants etc. Much like any other city. Couldnt of asked for anything more.
Nightlife in southampton is very good, alot of variety of different bars and clubs to visit for the weekends! I got into a habbit where i would just work and go to the gym weekdays, and then friday evening go out with my friends, i like this way of living alot.
