The Role
I really enjoyed the variety of work/projects I was involved in throughout the 6 weeks. I learnt a great deal about various clients and also the internal and external audit process. It has been a great experience and it's been very enjoyable. There's also been a few socials where I got the opportunity to meet everyone else in the office.
My colleagues have been very understanding that I have come into the firm with little/no experience and have offered to support wherever they can. The coaching I've received has been of good quality and the effort my team make to ensure i'm involved is great. Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming.
During my time, I have worked on 3 projects and all of my in charges have been very supportive and helpful. It's great to see how much time they dedicate to our development and ensuring we understand a task before leaving us to do it alone. It's great to see the level of trust they have on you to speak to the clients.
Within the internship programme, I undertaken 3 engagements so I have been quite busy. My first client, I would go in early and leave late as we were in the stage of signing off. I understand the level of work differs throughout the year and some times it will be busier than others.
I have been given a lot of responsibility during my internship. Within my first audit, I was responsible to complete a range of testings and speak to the clients to find out more information. My second audit was an internal audit review, I worked on this by myself as my in charge was on secondment, therefore I was responsible to manage my own time, ensure tasks were completed in a good quality. This was a great experience and I learnt a lot from it.
I have developed not only interpersonal skills but improved upon my technical capabilities.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office is great. The office is very modern and instead of having our own desk, we get to hot desk which allows us to sit with new people and build new relationships. It's very close to town as well so sometimes it is nice to go out for lunch.
The internship programme has been organised very well. We attended a residential trip for 3 days where we learnt about the firm, business and opportunities. We also had team building exercises to get to know the other interns. Also, we have been given the opportunity to shadow directors/partners which is great.
The level of support we received was great. We have regular meetings with our people manager to discuss development and any issues. We also get quality feedback from each of our jobs which allows us to understand areas we are doing well in and improve upon others. After receiving this feedback we would then compare it to our goals that we set at the beginning of the internship.

I am really interested in the graduate programme, I study accounting at uni and I believe this is a career I would like to pursue. Studying the accounting qualification to become a chartered accountant also appeals to me (ACA -ICAEW). I also like the culture of the firm which is a huge reason why i'd like to come back.
The Culture
We had a cricket social on my first week followed by drinks at a local pub. Then we had sports day last week which was a lot of fun. Everyone is very sociable and always up for doing something. We also had an intern meal last week which was great to catch up with everyone as we all work on different jobs.
I lived at a relatives so there was no cost of living. There are loads of bars and restaurants within walking distance at various costs
The nightlife is really good. There is a bar opposite work that everyone goes to after work on friday. There are then loads of bars in town so there's lots to choose from. Leeds is quite a big city so there's never limited places to go. It's been one of the best nights outs i've had.
There have been a few, such as the dragons den project
