    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • Overall I very much enjoyed my experience, there wasn't a single day that I found difficult coming into work partly due to the great work environment at Rothschild and the also because of the people there.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • Staffings tend to be very lean so when you are on a live deal, your work matters and your colleagues value the hard work you can put in to further the process. What I also found was that your thoughts are really valued which makes for interesting conversations.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • The Analyst was about 1 year in and really appreciated what it is like to be an intern, this made it very easy to integrate within the team, I even felt comfortable to walk into MDs offices at any time to discuss questions.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • On average I would get off at 11 / 12pm, but there isn't a facetime culture and when I have had no work I would leave at around 9pm.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • When you are staffed on a live deal, the responsibility you are given goes up a lot depending on how much trust you have built up. I think everyone was willing to give me a shot and as I proved myself I got more and more responsibility.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • In terms of transferable skills I would say the internship has made me very good at prioritizing and multi-tasking which will clearly be a useful tool in University. However the number 1 key skill I have learnt is listening.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • Very good work culture, people work very hard but also keen to have fun. I found that the balance between the two was very good for me.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • Very well organised, HR was always there to answer any questions with good socials organised into our diaries at key moments of the internship.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • I can definitely see a tangible improvement in myself for every task I have done, and this is very important for me as I want to work in a place that allows me to learn everyday and keep stretching myself

    • From my experience and the amount of learning that I can do as a junior, I think the prospect of future employment is very appealing

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • The nights started with drinks and dinner and would end in Kareoke. People are generally very fun to be around.

    • London is always going to be expensive

    • London nightlife speaks for itself

    • Friday and the Weekends were really the only time I would be able to get involved
