    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The work placement was fun to start with and I was given some good jobs to do in which I could learn experience and was then send on errands a lot which at first was also exciting as it helped gain experience, but as my placement went on hey took advantage of this and send me out day in day out and effectively not learning anything.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Some staff member could be nice but then some didn’t also make the effort to get to know you. I didn’t feel very valued, in fact I felt down most days as they gave off the attitude they were annoyed by me asking simple questions which they simply didn’t specify when given the task.

    2/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There wasn’t much guidance I had to work things out for myself a lot, as previously said I was out running errands a lot so a lot of my time relied on them telling me where to go next and what to pick/up look for which could be very vague at times.

    2/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I really learnt nothing in the workplacement that will help me with my degree, all I can say is this workplacement helped me to become more confident making my way around London, other than this there was really nothing of value I learnt during the time I was working there.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • They would tell me why I needed and where I should go on the placement so it was structured well in parts, however I feel that each intern was set the same things and there was no real rotation or opportunity to learn anything new, unfortunately I was stuck with running errands.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The perminant staff seemed lovely and had a great atmosphere with eachother, and some of the longer staying interns would be treated slightly better, but as for myself I was only there for a short period of time so there was no real care about being nice to me as I was soon to be gone.

    3/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • None at all, I was just sent to do the jobs on one else wanted to do, which was so be expected to an extent, but I was not taught a thing they put in the job description. It depends who you are I saw other interns learning, just unfortunately I was send out most of the time.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • If the job was a full time courier, then I would have had a great anount of experience! Everything That was stated in the position I was taking up, none of it was delivered, I really feel like I’ve learnt nothing about how it would really feel to work in the industry.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I got a lot of insight from running the errands I did as I was sourcing bits and bobs which they may want to use, so I started to understand what they may be looking for, but this was very minor and probably one of the only positive outcomes of the experience.

    2/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Well I’ve not realised that I cannot stand a full day or running around on my feet, so to an extent it’s helped me to realised this. But I really don’t think any job would be that physically exhausting day in and day our, so I’m not to sure what I’m thinking.

    3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • This was unpaid, and I was not reimbursed, I had to pay to stay in London for the duration, I was promised £35 travel money a week but it requires proof so fuel to London and back didn’t really count, this £35 was also only contributing towards journeys they send you on during work time. I walked to work every day so when I was send out for their errand it cost me, and I’m still yet to get this money back.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • No oppertunities what so ever, I spent half my time out of the office so there was no real chance for me to get any insight to what anything was like inside the office or what they did, let alone meet other companies or employers. Although I did connect with other interns so that may be helpful in the future.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Unfortunately I wasn’t there during the time there were any, but I do know that when there are events all interns are welcome and it is a great experience to be apart of, I am very gutted that I was no able to attend any the time I was there.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • No there was no information given to me about anything like this, there were a few time interns met up for a drink out side of work what is nice, but that’s is probably the only activity I can think of that was brought to my attention while working there.

    1/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • From my experience I would no recommend, I felt that everything I did was worthless and wrong and I was made to feel inadequate most of the time, I really didn’t enjoy my time there but that’s was because I was a short stay, for the longer staying people I can see how it would benefit and how nicely other people got treated. It really depends on what you apply for and how long you’re there.
