    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the vast majority of work I was assigned. Working with multiple close-knit teams gave me the opportunity to see many different areas of the Assurance LoS. The amount of enjoyment I took from each project depended almost entirely on the amount of interesting work my co-workers had prepared for me ahead of my arrival. Generally, most found some very interesting tasks for me to work through although some box-ticking is inevitable.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Again, most of the time I was provided with responsibility. I felt I had contributed significantly to the vast majority of the 6 or 7 projects I worked on.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The culture within the firm is very 'people' orientated. Throughout my internship I was walked through concepts and the pragmatics of those concepts with every rank of employee from Director.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I worked on 2 projects I think which I didn't enjoy as much as the rest. On these occasions, the lack of preparation by my co-workers provided me with too little challenging work. Most of the time I was worked on rewarding projects (<50hrs) with some fantastic co-workers. Work hard, play hard!

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Most of the time I was engaged in important activities with clients, often with my own specific tasks and problems. As I mentioned before, the preparation of my co-workers determined the amount of responsibility and challenge I had.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I decided that Assurance was not for me and have subsequently secured a position in Transactions. The fundamental financial knowledge and the insight into the structure of PwC will be invaluable in the future I'm sure.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was immersed in a very sociable office with a large young population. We formed a fantastic social group which made the office a very pleasant place to be.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The induction and intensity of the coaching and feedback was perfect. I enjoyed all of the projects in which I was allocated plenty of work and responsibility which was most of the time.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Feedback was provided continuously from co-workers, managers and coaches. Help was constantly available.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have secured a job in Transactions, Advisory.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I have made a large group of friends from my placement who I will continue to keep in contact with.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • My accommodation during the summer was extortionate considering I stayed in University halls in Reading for 5 weeks. Everything else was affordable.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I spent lots of time at Charing Cross, London as well as Reading. Great fun!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Sports team meets and company socials were quite frequent.
