The Role
A lot of opportunities available during the internships to do a wide range of tasks and also shadow in different departments. The work I was asked to do was valuable to the team right from the start and everyone in my team was always friendly and encouraging. Also constant support from the early careers team with any problems.
Very valued, I always felt my manager valued my contributions to work I did and always had things to do. Colleagues in my team were always very extremely friendly and willing to help out with any questions I may have.
My manager was extremely helpful, always made an effort to make sure I was busy and checked in to make sure I was enjoying the work I was doing. Never felt as if I was left on my own or didn't have anything I could be doing.
Always had something that I could be doing, whether I was helping out with the team or doing intern project work. Sometimes was busier however was never overwhelmed with work and could always as for support if needed.
Helped out with a lot of key work in my team and produced work that was directly submitted to higher level managers with my name on.
Learnt a great deal about how the banking industry is changing, and a huge amount of information that I will be able to take with me for future job applications and interviews. Was able to constantly speak to new people and different colleagues about their job to help me make more informed decisions about my future.
The Company
Very lively office in the digital studio. Always had things going on and colleagues always working together and collaborating.
Very well - always knew what the key dates and deadlines were. The early careers team at RBS were fantastic in organising the internship and placement.
Had spotlight learning sessions every week for all interns. Also provided a very comprehensive 3 day induction in Edinburgh, with guest speakers.

After working for several weeks I feel that I would be very comfortable to rejoin RBS for an graduate placement or further in my career. The people I have met all seem extremely genuine and have a good attitude towards work making it a great place to work.
The Culture
Some socials were organised but not many my group of interns. Maybe different in other regions.
In Bristol the nightlife is pretty standard for any decent sized city in the UK. A large amount of student discounts are available however which helps.
Very good in Bristol, maybe a bit quieter in the Summer as uni students have gone home but still a lot to do and events every week.
Did not have much other opportunities activities outside of work, other than a socials.
