    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Really informative with loads of staffs available for us to ask any questions we desired. The staffs are very nice and knowledgeable, giving us all the required information to help us decide if KPMG is the right place for us or not. Overall, a good experience to gain an insight into the firm.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very welcome regardless that I do not come from an Accounting and Finance background, I still felt encouraged to step out of my comfort zone and apply for an internship with KPMG. Furthermore, since KPMG is such a diverse and open firm, I felt like their culture and community would really fit with who I am.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • A lot of guidance and support. As said earlier, the staffs are very knowledgeable that they will be able to answer any of your questions. If not they would direct you to someone who can. All of the KPMG booklets are also very detailed that it really gives you a well-rounded overview of what KPMG is all about.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Studying and working are completely different things so if anything the KPMG experience has really exposed me to the working life. I have learnt to be more responsible and independent with my work. But at the same time, I have also developed my team working skills through through continuous progress report with my team.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured. Packed with activities and you will always have something to do. Everyone is super friendly that even if you feel lost, there will always be multiple people willing to help you get back on track which makes the experience a lot less daunting. There is a mixture of group work and independent work.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • As expected, it was very stressful in the beginning especially since I do not come from an Accounting and Finance background but I got used to it quite quickly with how much support we get. Thus, makes the general atmosphere very relaxed and friendly but at the same time very challenging through the variety of activities that we have to do.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot. We are all given computers, a buddy, as well as, a 1st day contact and a project manager to ensure that we have all of the support system we need to settle in. Furthermore, we had quite a few elearning courses to understand the rules and regulations of KPMG in particularly, as well of the rules and regularities of Accounting and Finance in general.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • 5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It really did help me because we have to prove that we align with KPMG values and behavioural capabilities. Of course, we had to be mindful of these requirements throughout the insight however, when we were asked to write out what we value versus the KPMG values, we realised that a lot of KPMG values match up with ours.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very valuable because it gave me an insight into the world of auditing. If I did not sign up for the insight, I would have never considered the option of working in a Big Four firm since it is so different to my Uni degree. But the experience with KPMG has opened up so many new opportunities for me.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There are lots of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees. This runs from team lunches to after hour networking events to a monthly social event. I had the chance to meet other people that are of similar age to me, as well as meeting long term KPMG employees to even the managers.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • KPMG offers lots of community service and we are given time out from work to pursue these activities. KPMG is engaged with its communities and they really give the employees the opportunity to do the same. We are notified during the insight, but you can always receive emails or read on the KPMG website.
