Student Intern Review

I really enjoyed my placement at KPMG as it gave me a great understanding of the work that takes place in an international investment banking. For me going through secondary school, I have always wanted to be an investment banker, and the opportunity to experience what it would be like to be one was truly impressive.

I was made to feel very valued and was always included in discussions. It made me feel part of the team and allowed me to make the most of my time. The team were always supportive, by making sure I was doing something different every day so I was getting a flavour of various departments.

I was given plenty of support throughout my time at KPMG. They always make sure that I was included in all of the discussions. In terms of guidance, they always made sure I was happy with what I was doing all the time. At the end of every day, I had a catch up session with my supervisor to make sure everything was going fine. This definitely made sure I was enjoying my time there.

I believe that this opportunity has allowed me to develop my skills, mainly teamwork and communication. The team made sure that all activities that I did would help me in some way to develop my skills. This has definitely helped me in current activities and I am very thankful for this opportunity.

The structure of the insight program was very well done. I was given a timetable on the very first date outlining what I would be doing throughout my stay. The team made sure that I was doing something different everyday so that I was getting a greater understanding of what it would be like to be an investment banker. I really enjoyed the structure of the program.

The atmosphere around the workplace was attractive, and it really made me feel happy and inclusive. Everyone was so friendly and was always willing to help whenever I needed assistance. This was a common theme throughout the workers working at this company. It made me understand that this is somewhere I wanted to be. I was able to see that although the workers were working hard they were enjoyed being there

I would say that a lot of time was spent by the team at KPMG to develop me as a character. They made sure that I was developing my skills, through the activities I was doing. One example of this in demonstration I was when I had to deliver a presentation to a panel of bankers of what it is like to be a banker. Although this was daunting, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

This opportunity made me realise that investment banking was what I wanted to do. By seeing first-hand the work involved in investment banking, I was able to see the various opportunities that would be available to me. After finishing the placement, I can honestly say that I felt a lot more confident that this is the career path I wanted to follow.

The insight programme at KPMG allowed me to get a greater understanding of what it would be like to be an investment banker. Particularly this company that I worked at, the staff and the team were very pleasant at all times and made me feel included in all activities that I have to do. The culture was very calm and positive at all times.

Thanks to this placement I was able to understand that work of an investment banker at an international company. I was certain but I wanted my career in a place like this where as well as enjoying the job, I would be working with with colleagues who are amazing. This is a fantastic experience for beginners looking to work in this field.
