    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great internship with a lot of real work experience. I was soon after the start date set to work on the same level as full time employees. Dedicated internship project allowed me to also be responsible for my own work. Would be great to also rotate among teams within the bank.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I did fell valued in most of the projects I worked with. My inputs were taken into consideration and I did not get the feeling of being used for cheap labour. At the end of my internship I did get the feeling that my team had appreciated my time with them.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Ok on support from management, with a couple of catch-ups and two rounds of interviews during the internship. I did, however, get a lot of support from my junior colleges. They always helped out whenever I asked for their guidance and I got the feeling that there were training me for a long term stay in the team.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy most days. I jumped straight into a project and had equally busy days as the rest of my team mates. There has been day, on the other hand, were my mornings and my evenings were busy, but when I had very little to do during the mid-day. Overall I would say that they kept me as busy as possible.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My team did give me quite some responsibility from the very beginning. I could tell that as I progressed throughout the internship, my team also trusted me more and more. At the end of the internship I did get the feeling that the senior trusted me at the same level as the other junior analysis.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I did learn a lot from both the training and the daily work with my team. I learned both new approaches to techniques from my studies and got hands-on experience form the standard technical solutions. I am not going back to my studies, but if I were I would definitely benefit a lot from this experience.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I believe the atmosphere in the office was very similar to the atmosphere in other similar firms. I would say that it is mostly positive, but that one can clearly tell if the team is in a distressed as this creates some tension in the team. There is also a clear understanding in the team of who that likes the job more and

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything was very well set up from day one. There was a clear plan for the training, the internship project and the follow-ups. There could have been more information on the process after the internship (full time opportunities) from the firm level. I did, however, receive some feedback from my team on future opportunities.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I did get one week of high quality training before joining the internship. I also got a lot of feedback and tips from my fellow junior bankers. Only down side was that I did not get access to certain online web-seminars that I think could be very helpful for both me and the team.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. I would love to join full time. While the firm work culture is far from perfect, I get the feeling that it is moving in the right direction. I would also highly value the training I will get if I join full time. I do get the feeling that most of my junior colleagues are happy that they decided to stay.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We have had several social events though out the internship and I have become fiends with most of my fellow interns. We were a small class of only 13 interns, and therefore got a good social scene among the interns. I am overall happy with the social scene throughout the internship.
