    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on placement. I've been part of a supportive team and had the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of projects. It has been a great insight into work after university.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel a valued part of the team and I have been given lots of responsibility and control over my own work since day one.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager has been great at arranging 121's twice a month to keep on track of my progress and answer any questions. In between those meetings I have been encouraged to ask questions and someone in the team has been more than happy to help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The workload can vary but I was generally busy all year and for the full length of the day. There was always something I could do but this was a manageable workload.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I've had a good level of responsibility throughout the year and taken a lead in a range of different projects. An example being the recruitment of new interns and apprentices, I conducted the end to end recruitment process, including the organisation of assessment centres.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have gain some great employability skills that I would not have development otherwise at university. I have also gain an improved understanding of how a large organisation operates, which will assist me in the return to my studies.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere is the office is fun and exciting, there is always lots going on. This includes the campaigns and desk drops of new products that are going to market. Everyone is approachable and will to help you where they can. Without doubt, you will get lots of biscuits over placement!!

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My role is an established intern role in the organisation. I had regular communication before starting and my first week was spent with the previous intern, where I was introduced to my roles and responsibility for the year. I also attended introduction meetings with each member of the team to understand their role. Throughout the year I have taken part in development modules with the intern cohort, which was a nice addition to the role.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I attended development modules as part of the intern programme. This included insights, which is a course that reveals how you as a person prefer to work and what characteristics best represent you. This is useful for your own knowledge but also so the team is aware of your style of working. I also attended an personal branding and presentation skills module. Furthermore, the company has supported any other learning opportunities available to me.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are graduate opportunities in a range of departments, however the recruitment for these can vary each year. The company is still establishing itself as a global leader, this makes it an exciting time to join as there are lots of changes being made and processed to be confirmed. It is a great opportunity to learn and be involved in something a lot bigger.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The intern modules were a good opportunity to socialise with other interns, as not all are based in the same office. However, other than the arranged modules I did not have much interaction with my fellow placement students. This might be something that we needed to take ownership of. We did have some social events as a team and I have also made some good relationships with graduates over the year.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home during my time on placement. This enabled me to save money which would have been spent on rent. In general the cost of living around the office is ok but there is not much going on in Hayes. I would venture a bit further if I chose to live close to the office.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There is not much nightlife. You could have to travel into London or to local university locations if you wanted a night out.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I know of a few sports groups in the office but generally there aren't many activities outside of work.
