    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed the insight, I learnt an incredible amount during the week and met a lot of great people that I will keep in contact with.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • There was a big emphasis on how well we as interns had done to have gained the position. Also, I felt like the analysts and other employees that we got to speak to valued us very highly as potentially being the firms future. This meant we didn't feel like undervalued spring insight students.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We received a big training session on the first day about an introduction to investment banking which was incredibly useful in gaining a sense of everything. The HR team were always available if we had any queries, and the analysts were always happy to talk if we needed some help with our projects.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • In terms of the financial analysis skills, although they won't particularly help with my degree they helped provide context to what I'm learning at university.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured, we were given a clear and well organised plan for the week, which incorporated numerous different aspects of the firm. This involved time for work shadowing, talks from employees in the firm on its different functions. I also liked how that the structure had a lot of networking time built into it.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Relaxed, in terms of the fact that there didn't feel like there was too much pressure on us. But also recognised what a great opportunity this was.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of people in the firm clearly gave up a lot of their time to be with us. The training session on the first day was also very beneficial. It also seemed like the whole recruitment team dedicated their whole week to the programme which was a very useful aspect.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The work shadowing opportunities meant we could understand what it would be like to work at Rothschild. We were given the opportunity to shadow in 2 different areas of the firm, this demonstrated the difference between the two areas, and how the culture and work slightly changes between the areas.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • To a great extent. One of the main things that I learnt from the insight was the great company culture at Rothschild. There is a big emphasis on the company history as well as maintaining the integrity and public image of the firm. Everything must be completed to a high standard.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very useful, in confirming your decision on the type of industry that you want to enter.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • During the week if you lived outside of a commutable distance to London you received an allowance for hotel as well as travel down to London. We also either had lunch provided each day or were reimbursed the cost of lunch. Therefore, I was reimbursed adequately for this fantastic experience.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Lots of opportunities for networking. We had an afternoon tea with some directors from the firm.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • We were given an ice breaker on the first day with the other insight week students, this was great to get to know the other people on the programme in a more social environment. Also, there was a networking lunch with analysts which was very useful to see what their average days work was.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Only thing I found out about was that employees often go for a drink outside of work, but this clearly isn't organised by the firm. I didn't find out about any other activities that are organised, like 5 a side football or something. We were showed to an on site gym that the company has.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definitely, it was a great insight into the investment banking industry as we'll as also being a great insight into Rothschild as a firm.
