About You
This was a truly excellent opportunity to experience law within a commercial setting and I thoroughly enjoyed this vacation scheme at PwC. There was a great balance between networking and social events, as well as education and challenging tasks. I had the opportunity to work with dedicated and passionate individuals, making this a very enjoyable and engaging scheme.
During the time that I spent at PwC, I rotated across a number of different departments. Every team immediately made me to feel welcomed and valued, providing me with work that was engaging and meaningful. Senior partners also took the time to speak with me, and again this made me feel very valued by the organisation.
During this vacation scheme at PwC, I always felt well-supported and I was provided with excellent guidance by my team. Upon joining the firm, I was assigned a trainee buddy, who carefully guided me throughout the vacation scheme. As I rotated between departments, my trainee buddy remained as a supportive constant, which I found very beneficial.
The skills and knowledge I developed during this vacation scheme will undoubtedly benefit me in the future. I developed specific legal knowledge that will benefit me upon my return to university and I will take on board the feedback I received on written work to improve university essays and work. I also developed a number of transferable skills, such as communication and presentation skills.
The Company
This vacation scheme was very well structured! On the first day, we were provided with a timetable that laid out all of the activities over the coming weeks and I found the introductory talk to be particularly useful. Each department that I worked in was well-prepared for my arrival, ensuring that I had interesting and varied work.
There was a great general atmosphere on this vacation scheme. I found employees at PwC to be extremely friendly, going out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable and rewarding time at the organisation. There was also a good atmosphere amongst the other interns, with an enjoyable social aspect to the vacation scheme.
PwC invested greatly in our personal develop, keen to ensure we got the most from this vacation scheme. My team provided constructive feedback on every piece of work I completed, which helped to aid my personal development. There were various different workshops and sessions organised, which focused on our personal development.
This vacation scheme was very beneficial in understanding what it would be like to have a full time role at PwC Legal. The open plan office plan makes it easy to observe and chat with employees, getting a real understanding of what everyone does on a day to day basis.
The vacation scheme was a great way to understand more about the company culture at PwC! It was interesting to see how the culture and environment varied slightly between the different departments, but overall, I got the sense that the firm’s culture is very open and transparent. The firm challenges each individual employee and pushes them to achieve their full potential, in a supportive environment.
The content of the vacation scheme was extremely valuable and really opened my eyes to a career outside of a traditional law firm. The opportunity to work with clients on real projects helped me to determine if my skills and interests were suited to the work, giving me a real understanding of what trainees at PwC Legal do on a day to day basis.
Everything Else
I was paid for my time at PwC Legal, however, this only just about covered my accommodation costs. I did not mind using some of my own money for travel, food etc. as this is such an amazing opportunity, but I would say, be prepared to have to spend some of your own money on this scheme.
There were plenty of opportunities for networking on this vacation scheme, with the opportunity to interact with trainees on a daily basis as well as the solicitors in each department. We were also treated to a ‘Partner Networking Event’, which was an amazing opportunity to interact with senior staff at the firm.
I very much enjoyed the networking sessions.
Yes, found out abut sporting teams, as well as a running team.
I would absolutely recommend this vacation scheme to a friend!
