    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight was a great experience. Really good to be able to work shadow and see what day-to-day life is really like. HR and majority of employees were lovely and took time out of their week to speak to me and relay their experience at the bank. Would have liked more opportunity to spend with fellow spring interns as felt lonely a lot of the time on the desk.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone on my team took time to speak to me which was great but they were all extremely busy (as is expected with the industry) and therefore the majority of the time I was on my own with no work to do and so felt more annoying then valued at some moments in time.

    2/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Whenever I was asked to read through documents or do some work for the employees it was always explained in a clear way and they took time to explain what meaning this had to the deal and the business which was really interesting. HR were brilliant in making sure we were all alright and would sort out any issues.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The networking required to make the most out of the spring week definitely developed my confidence and ability to have conversations with more senior people at the bank. The case study exercise was brilliant and really taught me a lot and will hopefully assist me with my logical and technical thinking.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I think the workshops that we had were really helpful and it would have been beneficial to have more skills/commercial awareness sessions. It would have been great to be able to have more time with the other spring interns as i think it's really important we form these relationships to use each other as our network of the future. There was too much work shadowing - after the first two days the rest was meaningless.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone was really friendly and wanted to make sure we enjoyed the week. Atmosphere on the desk was mixed due to how busy the team were. The networking events in the evening were a great way to lift the mood and experience part of 'London Life.' But everyone was really helpful and friendly.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 2/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • This spring insight was really good in terms of seeing what life would be like in a full-time role. You get to see exactly what work is done and what the structure of the day would be like. it also allows you to see if you fit with the type of people that work there which is great.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I think the content that you're exposed to day-to-day is a really great way to see what role in banking fits you. From really being immersed into the company you see exactly the type of things you would be doing if you were to be full-time here. Is definitely a great thing to do prior to selecting a division for internship.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Two networking events were held, one for seniors and one for juniors. These were a fun way to speak to employees and also network with each other which was a nice way to end two of the days. In day-to-day, able to network with the team you are in and free to meet other employees in different divisions and desks if you want too. However, there wasn't enough thought given to networking with the other interns and therefore was also hard to meet other teams and divisions as didn't really know which interns were with which team.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 2/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Spring weeks are a great thing to do to experience what life is actually like and not what it says on the websites. I would suggest speaking to as many people as possible to hear about their experiences and see if you would be a good fit for the role and the company itself.
