    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed my time at PwC. It was a really hands on, immersive experience and I was given a lot of responsibility. I feel like I got a really good impression of what day-to-day life at PwC was like and I got to make lots of new and interesting connections.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was treated really well throughout my time at PwC. I was especially impressed by how friendly and inclusive senior members of staff that I met were. They were actively interested in why I was at the firm, what I hoped to learn and my future aspirations. I gained some valuable insights and great connections!

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was given a lot of autonomy and responsibility for my own engagement and input. Due to the nature of the programme, it was kind of expected that I would just 'get on with it' - which for me, worked really well! However, it might be a bit intimidating for some students to begin with.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I gained a lot of confidence in myself and my ability to tackle new and challenging scenarios. There was no formal learning process, but I learned a lot of key lessons during my immersive time with the firm. This also felt more natural and comprehensive, rather than having structured workshops etc.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The Director that I was shadowing put real effort into planning what I would be doing on a day-to-day basis and gave me a lot of responsibility. This programme is dependent upon the leader than you are shadowing making that effort and making it engaging, so I felt very fortunate.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone I spoke to was really friendly and I felt very welcome at the firm. It was your typical office-based environment, and people also had a lot of work to do, so it was pretty much what you'd expect in terms of general atmosphere. Generally inclusive and a nice place to work.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I picked up a lot of skills on the job and learned some more advanced data analysis skills. As aforementioned, there was no structured personal training or development, so this placement really was what you made of it. I put a lot of effort and work in and was enthusiastic to take on responsibility, so I got a lot out of it!

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • As I was fully immersed in the office environment, I got a really accurate understanding of what day-to-day life at PwC was like for a range of employees. I had my own laptop, desk etc and was treated like every other member of staff, so it was easy to picture myself there and what that would entail.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Through all of the people that I met and the experiences I had, I felt included as a part of PwC. This was especially the case in regards to the company culture. Everyone was hard-working and intelligent, but also very friendly and had a diverse range of interests and backgrounds.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • This was a really good first insight into the consultancy industry and how it operates on a day-to-day basis. I had a lot of opportunities to ask questions to a variety of staff and hear about their career paths. It's helped me to reflect on my own skill set and how a career in consultancy would be well suited to this.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was well paid for my time and work during my time at PwC.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I got to meet a diverse range of employees at PwC, especially due to the influence of the Director that I was shadowing. Again, this depends on the general combination of your level of proactive-ness and the effort that your leader makes to introduce you to others. I definitely felt like I could've spoken freely to most people.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I was very fortunate that my leader introduced me to a wide variety of staff at PwC and made networking at the firm very easy. It was slightly intimdating at first, but as the week went on, I became more confident in myself and my abilities, so found it easier to start these discussions.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I didn't really hear too much about this - I know that there are some charity initiatives that the company supports and also networks for staff, such as the women's network. It would've been nice to hear more - maybe this is something that could be built into the induction in the future.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this programme to my friends. Overall, it was enjoyable and gives you the rare opportunity to get hands-on in a working environment, see how the company culture suits you and build up your industry knowledge. I had a great time and wish that the programme had been longer!
