The Role
My internship was extremely varied and interesting and my team were amazing. There was always something new to do and I got to do so many different aspects of fundraising, event management, event marketing and social media marketing. I couldn't have asked for a better internship.
They were so helpful, supportive and positive. They trusted me to do my work and treated me like a valued colleague and friend rather than a temporary intern.
I could not have asked for a better manager. She was always checking in on me and when recognised when I was being given too much to do and dealt with it without me really having to say anything. She managed my work load really well and really looked after my well-being as well. She was super approachable and always available if I needed her.
I found that I was really quite busy on a daily basis. There were a few days when it was quite overwhelming, but my manager suggested some techniques to manage my workload that were really helpful. For example asking for a deadline or a priority for the task from those giving me the jobs so I could work on them on a priority schedule. She also suggested blocking in time in my calendar for particular tasks so they didn't seem too overwhelming, all of which was invaluable advice.
Almost immediately the team gave me lots of responsibility like sole volunteer management for a ball, research and contacting potential sponsors and supporters for new events that are coming up. They very much made me feel part of the team and gave me work accordingly.
Honestly, the skills and experience that this internship has given me sets me in good stead for employment to come. I have also grown in confidence in my own abilities and work which is all down to the support and encouragement of my team. Plus the internship programme's personal development has been valuable. The CV workshop and 1:1 session stands out as something that has definitely helped me.
The Company
Everyone I met was really nice and helpful. There was a super fun atmosphere and everyone was very friendly.
The personal development was ace, the internship coordinator Esther Nicoll has been phenomenal. She has answered every question, been enthusiastic about every intern social and fundraising event and has definitely made my time here easy and enjoyable.
There were more opportunities that perhaps I participated in but some of my highlights were: a CV workshop and 1:1 with an HR advisor, linkedin workshop, Microsoft office seminars and help, buddy system, mentor opportunities and the availability of shadowing anyone in the office in any department.

Company Parties/Events
If I could work with my team, I wouldn't hesitate to go for a job with them.
The Culture
Wednesdays were the intern social nights generally. We also went to some company wide events as a group such as the Charity boxing match.
Obviously central London is very expensive to live and socialise in but we did get discounts at local pubs and places where CRUK employees got discounts.
The local pubs are fab as are the restaurants.
