    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed this insight programme at Unilever and I am thrilled that I had the chance to be a part of the programme. Although a relatively short insight programme, lasting for 4 days, I learnt a lot and had the opportunity to network lots of knowledgeable people. I just wish the programme had lasted longer!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Throughout this insight programme, I felt very valued and I found that Unilever staff went out of their way to ensure we had the most rewarding insight as possible. The HR team, who supervised us, took the time to get to know our names and interests- they seemed to be genuinely interested in our development and us.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I felt very well supported during this programme. I received constant support from the HR team and they were in constant communication during and prior to the insight beginning. During the programme, we received support and guidance from such a wide range of employees, from industrial placement students right up to senior managers and VPs.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I really believe that I have learnt skills for life and this programme is very beneficial in terms of personal development. To me personally, the most important thing that I developed was my confidence. This benefited me applying for future opportunities going forward. Furthermore, I vastly developed my networking and communication skills.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I found the insight to be very well structured and the organisation of the programme was second to none. We were prompted picked up from the station and from this, we had a well-structured timetable of activities. I found there to be a good balance of activities and down time, which gave the interns an opportunity to connect as a group.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There was a really fantastic atmosphere on the insight and I know, for many of the interns, this was one of the highlights of the insight programme! Everyone, interns and full time employees alike, were extremely friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and I did not find there to be a competitive nature amongst interns, which you can find on other programmes.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was no formal training as such, due to the short nature of the programme, however, there was multiple activities geared towards personal development.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Although we were only at the company for four days, I got a real understanding of what it would be like to have a full time role at Unilever. Being in the office each day, I got a real understanding of what the general atmosphere is like. Furthermore, I was able to gage the work-life balance of most employees (which is good!). We had lots of question sessions with employees and graduates, which really helped.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Unilever is very proud of its company culture, so throughout this insight week, company culture was an aspect that was really stressed to us. We had multiple presentations on this and employees are very passionate about this aspect of the company. I learnt a lot of about the Sustainable Living Plan, which sits at the heart of the business and drives company culture at Unilever.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were so many opportunities for networking during this spring insight programme. • I found out about so many different activities that employees can get involved in outside of work! At Unilever, they are keen to ensure that employees maintain a healthy work-life balance, and therefore provide lots of opportunities, such as an office gym and free fitness classes. Furthermore, there are lots of sport teams that employees have set up. In addition, there are endless charity events to become involved in.
