The Role
From early on I was taking on extensive responsibility, working alongside a supportive team
My contributions were highly valued, and I was encouraged to speak up in the presence of the senior team, including partners
On my first project I had constant support from a senior associate as well as the project manager. For more general questions, you are assigned a buddy who in my experience was always happy to help
From early on the work was quite hectic while staffed, but with a day or two of downtime between projects to enable you to rest
I was given extensive responsibility in line with all those who joined as graduates
I did my placement as a graduate, and went straight on to start a full-time job at the firm. The skills I learned during my first months I continue to use every day
The Company
The team is definitely one of the best things about this place. Enthusiastic, incredibly smart and happy to help. It's the best group of people of all the places I have ever worked.
The overall setup was done quite well. A few hiccups (such as tech confusion when switching to a permanent role, low awareness at the time of the graduate internship) but nothing my people manager couldn't help me clear out
Weekly compulsory training sessions on Friday afternoons, and an initial 2 weeks of training and case study exercises led by everything from other associates to directors
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Healthcare/Dental
I was offered a full time position before the end of my placement, as are most other interns/placement associates who perform well
The Culture
Every Friday there are team wide drinks, attended by all ranks. My intake also frequently went for lunch and coffees and were a good support network
London is inherently expensive but London Bridge/Bermondsey have a mix of places
Quite a few bars and pubs, restaurants. Not really much of a club scene, although easy access with tube
There are some sports teams and a poker night, sometimes groups of grads go out and do something for an evening
