The Role
Great experience and exposure. A placement student is treated the same as a first year graduate employee. When working in audit, the best part is that one would work with multiple clients. The placement helped me to develop very useful skills.
The colleagues are very supportive. Audit is always completed by a team. As a new employee, one is encouraged to ask questions. They give a lot of tasks and responsibility, so they expect questions. A great learning experience.
The firm is overall very supportive. There is a senior staff acting as People Manager for each employee. So if you encounter any difficulties while working in the office, or that there are jobs which you are interested in, you can schedule meeting with your People Manager anytime. They would help you as much as they could.
Probably the worst part about the job. Working hours vary drastically. I have weeks were I worked the standard 40 hours week, and weeks where I worked for 80 hours. In busy season (January to April), the week average is about 55 hours. It is most quiet in summer.
There are always a lot of work to do, and they are willing to give as much responsibilities as you can take.
A fantastic experience! Really gives you a head in career development. It's a steep learning curve from the beginning to the end of placement.
The Company
Very modern and well equipped. There are a lot of open space, long desks, and small cabins. You can find a spot that fits your working style.
The program is very well organised.
In total, I have received more than 150 hours in training. Other first year graduate employees receive even more training but that's because they would be studying for the professional qualifications.

It is a great company to work in. They are very willing to offer you a job after the placement, to join the firm after you complete your degree. The hours you have completed are included in your professional qualification study, should you decide to return to the firm. This is a huge advantage. You would qualify almost a year earlier (2 years instead of 3).
The Culture
There are a lot social activities among colleagues. A great environment.
Placement student receives about 1.3K a month (as of 2016/17) outside London. While this is certainly not much, it is good pay for placement student. You can live quite comfortably if you don't overspend.
I worked in Aberdeen. A lot of parties. Pubs and clubs are nice. Nightlife is great. The problem is more that there is not much else to do.
Outside the busy season, you should have the time.
