    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • This insight week was different to any other work experience I have had. Instead of completing small tasks throughout the week and not seeing what the department was like overall you got to shadow different Directors within the firm, meaning you got a greater overall insight into the department and the different sections within it This meant it was thoroughly enjoyable as there was always something new to learn and see each day.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Despite coming in for only a week of insight, staff treated you with the utmost respect and cared for you as a person and a future employee. I was taken out to lunch every day with new people within the firm, from graduate employees to directors. This was great as you felt included and that you fit in straight away with the firm.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • As I was there for only a week there was not much guidance needed as I did not work directly on a project with the firm. However, I regularly asked questions and asked for support from the director I was shadowing and she was happy to help and went out of her way to support me when necessary. In addition to this, after my insight week, I still have contact with staff members at PwC who are supporting me and helping me with any queries I have.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was provided with ample amount of information about graduate schemes at PwC which helped me to decide on what type of graduate role I would like after university and what I would do within the first 3 years at the firm as a graduate employee. This has helped me motivate myself for my second year of university to achieve above a 2:1 to stand out as a graduate employee as this role is something I would like to take on after my graduation. This insight week is the best way to learn on the job about the firm and if it is the right job for you.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • My director was excellent in arranging my insight week and structuring it. she even set up a google calendar and alerts for me so that I knew exactly what I was doing throughout the week and at what times. In addition to this, she ensured that if I had any preferences of what I wanted to do in the insight week that she would tailor the week to my wishes.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Could not ask for a better, welcoming atmosphere. I would love to go back again for a summer internship. A brilliant, inclusive environment which I would be proud to call my employer in the future.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As it was only a week of insight, there wasn't much training we could do. However, the firm invested a lot of time in preparing us for our final interviews with the firm in order to ensure we were ready. In addition to this, the firm provided us with tips on interviews enabling us to develop these skills for the future so that we can stand out when graduate job interviews take place. This was great.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • This could not have provided me with more insight. This week really is a must to see what the firm is like. After just a week, I totally understood the role I would have at the firm after graduating, the type of tasks and training I would be given. I already had found out about the companies dress down fridays and the departments clubs and meetings which they have at the end of the month, I could really see what my role would be like at the firm if I joined.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • By going straight into the firm and working with all levels of employees I got to experience the inclusive and family like culture of the firm which is seen at all parts of the firm. I was also given booklets to read about the culture at the firm which helped me understand the company culture even more.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content could not of been more helpful. If I had any queries or questions the staff at PwC answered my questions to the best of their abilities and if they could not answer the question they got others to help me. This week really makes you feel like a real employee at the firm meaning you can experience what your life at the firm would be like. I recommend that anyone who is unsure on their pathway to complete an insight week as it really does make or break your future career path.
