    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I completed a 1 week Women in Business programme in PwC's Belfast office under the Deals department. I thoroughly enjoyed the work I was able to do and enjoyed getting to know more about what was involved in Deals and Forensic Services in particular.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone was lovely and more than happy to show me the type of work they do. Unfortunately, due to the confidential nature of this work, there was very little that I could actually do myself. I would have liked a little more hands on work during my time there but I know that, because of the confidentiality issues, this simply was not possible.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • With the work I was given to do, I had a lot of guidance on how to do the work/present it that would be satisfactory to a PwC client. There were several people sitting nearby that were more than hapoy to answer any questions and queries I had.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My degree is Accounting with a specific focus on Forensic Services and having spent time in this particular team, I think I have gained invaluable knowledge that will help me with the remainder of my studies.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • My Women in Business week was extremely well structured. I had a set timetable for each day of the week which allowed me to see all of the departments within Deals. I spent a specific amount of time in each department before moving on to the next one and any free time I had available, my mentor made sure she had some work I could be helping her with.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone in PwC was very accommodating and not once did it seem like I was a hassle to anyone there. I would have liked the opportunity to chat to a few more people who were sat near me, however, I know that they were super busy and this would not have been possible.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • During my first few days there I had to undertake an onlinr learning module on how to act professionally etc and what to do in a client facing role. Not all of this was specific to PwC so I feel I can use what I learnt from the online course going forward in my degree and future career.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • During my week I feel that I got a real sense of what it would be like to work in PwC as a graduate.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Everyone I spoke to seemed to love their job and the firm itself. They were more than willing to tell me about the work/life balance and all of the events the company puts on to recognise and reward it's hard working staff members throughout the year.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of my week was very helpful in helping me decide my future career path. My time in PwC has confirmed to me that forensics is something I am very interested in and would not mind working in in the future.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • My pay was sufficiently generous for my week spent at the company. I was pleasantly surprised as I had assumed it would be an unpaid position.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, I was able to meet with at least 1 person in every department within Forensic Services/Deals. In my spare time I was offered the opportunity to go and meet with other departments such as audit, tax and consulting as well.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Great, everyone was more than happy to chat to me about not only their jobs but PwC as a company and why they chose to work there.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, several people mentioned to me about the outside work activities they can get involved with through PwC. This could be helping at careers fairs to reach out to prospective graduates, volunteering or even running a marathon for charity.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this Women In Business week to friends and even those in the years below me on my course because I found it very interesting.
