    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement the most out of any previous jobs I have had. I feel the work was well suited to me.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel like I was treated equally as an employee but would not socialise much with my colleagues outside of work. I would not consider them part of my extended family but if I had any problems there was someone to talk to.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given lots of support by the people in my office, my supervisor and my team leader.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always had something to do and could fit in completing university assignments also.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given as much responsibility as the other employees at the company

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed will definitely benefit me in my future career.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was very quiet which suited me but sometimes there could have been a bit more of a relaxed atmosphere. It would have been nice to have a bit more office banter!

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The HR team didn't do a very good job at organising the placements or the familiarisation day but BDD, DMPK, Ware were excellent once I had started my placement.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given lots of opportunities to develop my skills and train in new areas.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to return to GSK to work in R&D but there aren't many opportunities available at the moment. I think I made a good impression so hopefully an opportunity will arise over the next few years.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The students had a really good social life outside of work!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Ware, Hertfordshire was very expensive, a lot more expensive than what I am used to.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • For the small town where we lived it was good. Hertford and London are not far away either.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • No opportunities were offered to me.

    1/5
