    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed that they trained us well and gave us real work to do and did not give us 'intern' jobs. I enjoyed working in a professional environment with real clients on actual cases was very good and you really felt like one of the team not just an intern.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues really valued my help as we took some of the work off their plate and allowed them to do the harder bits of work. I did not feel like a burden to my colleagues but an asset. When meeting clients, I was another one of the team not just an intern watching.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support by my managers and in-charges. For each task they would coach me through and be available for any questions or queries I may have. They were also very receptive to the questions I had about the ACA and progression within the firm and options afterwards.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was kept quite busy on a daily basis with enough work to easily last me the day and a bit more. Normally the in-charge would have me on a set amount of work for the week and add little bits here and there so I always had something to do and some work to fall back on if I was running low.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my time. I was considered one of the team and given sections of the audit to complete myself. Any questions I had would go by my in-charge and then I would go and speak to the relevant person at the client. I was very much another member of staff and not just an intern.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Since I study accounting and finance, the work here has helped to solidify my knowledge of accounting principles and understand them in a real-world context. This will help me in my degree as I will be able to picture scenarios from here when I do questions for my degree and make them quicker and easier to answer.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was nice as if we needed a break we would play a game to break up the work a bit. While working we would have a chat about various things and our work would not suffer for it. We also ate a lot of snacks and biscuits.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The employment prospects are very good as they help you get your ACA with a lot of support and help. You get a lot of experience which transfers nicely to other fields and if people do not stay, they find another job in another area quite easily due to the reputation and training PwC give.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As there was only three interns at my office, we did not see each other much as we were all split up and put on different jobs! When we did meet we would get lunch together and hang out. The initial training was good when we socialised with all the other interns form other offices and disciplines.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • During the time I was there, there was not a lot of chance to do any activities out of work. Before I arrived some interns were there for the summer ball which sounded fun and social. The social calendar is quite full but unfortunately nothing for when I was there.
