    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My internship was the best professional experience I ever had so far. And I already have 4 years of professional experience in three different companies. I would definitely recommend to anyone to join any programme within Citi. On a more personal level, the people I met with were all so kind and willing to help through the process.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As I mentioned in the previous comment, the team was awesome. I felt welcome all the way long and no one ever refused to take some time to help me through a project, or even through understanding how Citi works. I believe that during the Summer I was not seen as an intern but as a colleague not only in my team but also in any other team I reached out.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My staffer was really willing to make this experience valuable for both of us. To that extend, she was helping me on a regular basis by answering all my questions and providing me guidance every week. On a more senior level, I had opportunities to work with Senior managers, and their comments and guidance on the work I was doing helped to get things done quite easily.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I am very committed to the work I am doing. In that extend, I spent a lot of time improving the work I had already done. For me being busy is a good thing. However, my team and management, and HR were really paying attention to staff me on projects I could handle while keeping a nice balance with my personal life.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was so impressed by the responsibilities I receive as soon as the first week I started. This kind of opportunity is on a case by case basis, and I believe the timing was so good to me that I was able to participate to live deals more than any other intern in the other teams. I think that mainly depends on the deal flow and on our own commitment.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe that the skills I developed will be useful during all my career. Indeed, it is not only technical skill but also, and mainly in my opinion, soft skills. I learned how to deal with people, how to interact with them, and how to create my own network. It will not only be useful during my studies but also within any company I could join in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • In my office the general atmosphere was a perfect balance between a work focused day and a relaxed mind-set when no rush. Working on live transactions can be heavy, but the interaction with colleagues allowed me to take it easy on that matter. We had several events, drinks together and I felt involved in everything.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation was really impressive. Compared to any other experience I had, all the administrative part was handled at the beginning of the internship and it was well organised. I could use all the tools I needed since the first day I arrived. The process for internship is quite clear, nothing to say on that.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested in me just as if I were a full time employee, allowing me to do more training than those required. I have been proposed to travel as well for a Due Diligence process. This kind of opportunity is priceless. I felt valuable for the team and the team invested in me.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If we have the opportunity of doing a summer internship at Citi, that means that their is a very high probability of being offered an opportunity of working within the team we have been assigned to. The process for placement in teams requires you to sort you choices and then tries to match it with the needs in the teams. Definitely recommend to try it.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The Corporate Banking side of the Summer Analyst group is smaller than the Investment Banking side, at least in London. Thus it was really easy to build relationships among the interns. We also had the opportunity to create bonds with the IB interns. Many events are organised in order to strengthen those links between the different teams.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of socializing is ok. however leaving in London represents an important cost in term of rent that deserves a 7/10. However it is well compensated by the very competition remuneration we have been offered that is why I decided to put an 8/10. The area is less expensive than the centre of the town.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • In the direct area of my work place, there is always a place to meet with friends, colleagues or peers. It is the perfect place to increase your network efficiency. However, in order to party late you will have to move to Central area that is not far from canary Wharf and really easy to access within 20 minutes by Jubilee line, or a bus.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Activities outside of work are numerous. Not only organised by the company itself but also with external organisation. We are able to benefit from a balanced life, regarding sport, culture, socialising, networking, You can always have something organised nearby the place we work as it is the heart of the financial activity.
