    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A little dull at times but quite a lot of interesting and challenging work and a great working environment.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Felt like I was being treated the same as a real employee.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Mostly left to my own devices; though when I asked for help it was usually given.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Sometimes I was very busy and the work was urgent, and sometimes felt like there wasn't much to do

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Plenty - writing real software for delivery to customer, being trusted with fixing some fairly crucial issues.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Programming and time management skills will be invaluable.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Hard working but relaxed.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • More training would have been nice, if just for first week. And slightly ran out of useful work towards the end.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They didn't spend much time on it, but did try and keep track of how I was developing and we had chats about it now and then.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Not really sure - I don't really want to work in software anyway.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I didn't speak to them much as I started at a different time and was working on a different project. There wasn't really a distinction between interns and employees anyway.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London, so rents huge. Still, decent pubs at a decent price nearby.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • A couple of nice pubs and restaurants nearby; very near Camden which I'm told is good for clubs

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Company band, a couple of sports events.

    3/5
