    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement gave me a great opportunity to travel and experience different challenges and situations around Europe, no day was the same!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was made to feel part of the team, who all supported me throughout my placement. This was a great help and allowed me develop my skills in marketing.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a set of instructions, but sometimes felt like the guidance was not always there, when working on projects. All this being said I had weekly catch up with my line manager which was very useful.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy nearly all the time, but once a few times did I feel the workload got a bit out of control.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility in my placement, which was stressful at times, however being on a brand of only two people, I felt a real responsibility for the brand.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Studying Biomedical Sciences I am not sure how much my marketing placement will affect my studies, however in jobs to come I will be able to use the experiences I have developed in project management and useful people skills which will serve me in years to come. Experiencing a positive working environment for a year has exposed me to good practises in the workplace.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A very positive atmosphere, with a really team mentality. With multiple functions having to work with each other including sales, logistics, medical, regulatory and sales strategy, there was a really team approach with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. The office was very quiet on Mondays and Friday as everyone worked from home.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organization was relatively good for the placement. Setting up was good, and the roles I was given were clear, however the structure of the brand for a year could have been better organized. Although this created challenges, I learned to become reactive to them. The handover period could have been better with the placement student I took over from, as we were only given three days in June, however this was due to unfortunate circumstances.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I received all of the required training and was offered to do my yellow belt training. Overall, the training was sufficient to do my job, In terms of marketing training, I could have been better from a financial point of view, however this was not a huge concern.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They are appealing, however I think at a later date. There is a lot of opportunity to move around in the company and I really liked the environment of striving to develop personally. It is a positive and very driven company, which I enjoyed being in.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a relatively good social scene, however as the location of the company's offices were in the countryside, it made socializing after work hard. I would recommend working in central London if you, however the other interns did manage to do things outside of work. There was football at lunch, as well as other fitness classes on offer that you could take part in.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The area was expensive to rent in (I am studying at University up North), and socializing was expensive. It was a little cheaper than central London, however not as much to do. The living costs are also cheaper than central London. There are always cheap things to do around the area, however you often have to travel by car, or train, which can make social events more expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was not very good in the area, as the offices are based in the countryside. For young people, there was no clubs near by, apart from one in the closest town a mile or two away. So there was not a lot of nightlife going on in the area.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a few, however not as many as some of my friend's placement years. I did go out a few times, however there was no regular activities planned. One reason is because of the company age range, and there are not many young people who worked in my department. This being said, there were other activities to do at lunch ect.
