    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The industry experience has been very good, I have had lots of different tasks and projects throughout the year. However I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had more of a daily/weekly routine.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues supported me and encouraged me, however at times I often felt as though I was compared to the previous student.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • If I needed support I could ask for it off several different colleagues, however sometimes it was difficult as they were not always in the same plant I was.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As my role was project based it varied, some days I was very busy other days I was very quiet. Towards the end of my placement I had a lot more to do which I enjoyed.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Throughout my placement I had to help run events and recruit new students which was a lot of responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe my core skills such as communication have improved a lot over the year which will be very beneficial after I graduate. However In terms of HR skills these still need developing.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone in the office was very welcoming, there was a few heated moments between colleagues but nothing out of the norm.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I had set projects throughout the year which previous students also had to do. There was a few extras but overall it was well structured.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • If think if you are willing to go the extra mile the company will invest a lot in you.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Above 25 days holiday

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The company had graduate scheme and VIE, so depending on how well you have done throughout your placement and if there is a role available you could stay in the business.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was several placement students at the plant and at first we planned to do things outside of work but as we all lived quite far apart nothing really materialised. If you wanted to social you had to make an effort.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home so saved a lot of money, however I did spend a lot on petrol travelling to and from work as I lived an hour from site. If you were relocating I think the housing costs in the area are reasonable.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Newcastle is only a few miles alway so there is plenty of places to go on a night out.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • If you want to get involved with different things outside of work you can, but again you have to make that effort.

    3/5
