About You
The insight was fantastic. I was able to meet like minded people with the same aspirations. I also got the opportunity to learn from a variety of professionals within BP's supply and trading sector. The day was very inclusive and was well structured. I even got a chance to try a trading simulation and see the trading floor which was great. The day has allowed me to have a clearer insight into my future career prospects which is what I wanted.
I did feel valued. BP covered my travel expenses from Scotland as well as supporting me with various questions I had prior to the day. On the day, I had the opportunity to ask questions which was fantastic. In short, BP did treat me well during the day guiding me throughout the day with and struggles and reassuring me about the future career prospects. The only blip was with my application at first as it took quite a while to get feedback however this was soon resolved.
I received a lot of support. many different professionals took the time to speak to me about a future with BP. I also got to ask any questions I had and also got support with the application process for future Internships and Interviews at BP. Lucy who coordinated the event , in particular was very supportive throughout the day , providing structure and guidance throughout the day.
The skills have helped me realise what career paths are available as I actually got first hand experience at what life at BP is like. I was unsure if this was definitely the career for me as I had no experience and I was also unsure as to whether I was actually in the right degree for this career. The day helped me realise that BP hires from many different subject areas and not just the normal economics, engineering ect... courses.
The Company
Very well structured, The day ran smoothly, I got everything I wanted from the day and felt that the way the day was structured helped me get the information and experience I desired.
The Insight had a great atmosphere. The group was really friendly and chatty which made a difference as it meant I could talk to others about there experiences in the career area. I thought the day was relaxed and this promoted discussion which was insightful. I really enjoyed it,
The company gave us advice and help with applications to future internships and interviews, The company also taught me a lot about trading and how BP, in particular supply and trading actually works which I suppose will benefit me in the future.
The day gave me a slight insight into a full time role as I learned from other professionals what their days are like. I think an internship would allow me to see what a full time role is like first hand.
The insight helped me realise that BP is a really good company to work for as it was relaxed, the people were friendly and there was also a lot of support available with good working conditions which is appealing
The content of the day has helped me realise what supply and trading is all about which in the long run will help me make an educated decision about my future education and career area in trading.
Everything Else
Yes, there was opportunity to network at lunch and throughout the day.
Lunch was good as I got the opportunity to have a chat with recent graduates about how they got into the company and how they are finding their role.
I did learn a few from networking but they did not stick in my mind
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend.
