    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I had an incredible time at Rothschild. The programme is very well organised and well rounded. A series of presentations served as an overview of the financial industry and Rothschild's divisions. Throughout various networking events, you were able to get to know the firm even better. Interns also had the opportunity to join two work shadowing sessions and present an evaluation of a potential merger/acquisition in front of a panel of directors! This gave us a true insight of what it is like to work as an Analyst at Rothschild. The programme was rounded off by a volunteering event at Body&Soul. This not only allowed me to bond with other interns, but also showed me how Rothschild cares about the communities in which it operates.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Throughout the programme, interns were treated as potential future analysts. Rothschild took all steps to make sure we could do the most of our time. For example, the insight involved a networking lunch with Analysts and even an afternoon tea session with Directors. You get the impression that Rothschild truly wants you to get to know the culture of the firm and determine whether you could fit in it.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I felt very well accommodated during the programme. Everyone was very receptive to questions throughout the presentations and events. We were able to get help on our presentations from the analysts we shadowed during the two work shadowing sessions, but this was more on an ad-hoc basis and I wished this part of the programme were a bit more structured.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The various presentations, combined with the work shadowing sessions, provide you with a real insight on how to analyse a transaction and you are given the opportunity to use this in your presentation at the end of the week. This presentation and the networking events also improved my communication skills a lot.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The programme was packed with insightful events, which was possible due to the outstanding organisation. We received a timetable at the start fo the week and there was not a single divergence from it. HR was always there to help and I was able to arrange accommodation without any problems.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was extremely friendly and relaxed. All employees at Rothschild were very welcoming and the other interns were very down-to-earth as well. I believe the atmosphere reflected Rothschild's culture, as well as it’s long-term commitment towards employees. It also shows why it is a great firm to work for!

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • At the beginning of the week, there was a workshop on how to develop your own brand, which I found quite useful. Throughout the week, you get to know the financial industry better and have an opportunity to use your newly acquired skills and knowledge in a presentation. The presentation is then judged by a panel of Directors with a Q&A session and this greatly improved my presentation and communication skills.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The programme provides you with a true insight of what it is like to work at the firm. I was given the opportunity to shadow two Analysts, one in the Healthcare division and one in the Infrastructure division. Throughout these sessions, I was able to experience the day-to-day responsibilities of an analyst and how collaboration between employees works. As the working shadowing was done in teams of two, I was also able to ask any remaining questions.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Throughout the week you are able to interact with a lot of employees with different positions at the firm. You are also shown around the office and are given every possible opportunity to understand the culture better. With its rich European heritage and as an independent financial advisor, Rothschild has a unique position in the industry and this is also reflected in the work atmosphere of the firm.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • As you are given a presentation on all divisions, you have the opportunity to find out what field of work suits you best within the financial industry.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Rothschild will reimburse you for your travel, accommodation and lunch expenses.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The programme was designed in a way that made it possible to network throughout the week. In particular, the work shadowing events were really helpful. However, there were three main networking events: A buffet lunch with Analysts, an afternoon tea session with Directors, and a farewell event with Analysts at the end of the week. Further, there was a social event with the other interns and HR at the beginning of the week, which served as a great ice-breaker.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • All the events were very well organised. The networking events with Analysts were particularly helpful, as they were able to give us advice on the internship programme.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We were given a presentation on how Rothschild allows employees to make time for volunteering activities and even participated in one volunteering session ourselves.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Rothschild has a unique standing in the financial industry and an exceptional reputation as a global, independent financial advisor. The incredible work, the firm's culture and the amazing office are all good reasons to work for this firm. The insight serves as a true introduction to Rothschild and I would recommend it to anyone interested in working in the financial industry.
