The Role
Was a tough workload and you are left to work independently from the get-go. However, has taught myself sel-discipline and invaluable exposure to the industry
I found that my team leader, although not responsible for my technical work was not supportive and often asked my supervisor rather than myself what my project was 'useful for'
Project was not prepared when I arrived and it took a while to kick-off. Once the internship was up and running however I gained invaluable help from a few individuals
Very busy, learning software and sourcing the data took a long amount of time and then trying to fit in all the analysis was a stretch for time
Work I did was not critical to the current projects within the team
Invaluable, exposure to the software and the work place practice will be applicable in all aspects of work and personal life
The Company
Stressful at times but overall very helpful and friendly atmosphere. Almost everyone was willing to help in one way or another
No objectives or data were there when I arrived. Had to conjour project myself - this did add to the challenge but then the achievement when it was completed
Had a lot of exposure to software programmes and although not put on training courses I did spend large amounts of time with staff members being shown to to best use the programmes.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Had an offer of employment before the project placement
The Culture
Very active social life, was personally organised by the interns rather than company-instigated.
Expensive location but with cheap enough bars once people got to know the area
Brilliant selection of entertainment
Sport is the biggest interest, running clubs and most sports that can be though of.
