    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was thoroughly surprised at how enjoyable it was and will actually miss the team I worked with. The colleagues were what made the 11 week duration so enjoyable and the work life balance was a lot better than I'd expected. The location of the office was perfect (2 stops from Euston) and lunch was always looked forward to as there are a range of different cuisines to explore close by, not to mention the canteen they have on the 7th floor.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I personally could not have asked for a better team to be working with - all of my colleagues were very patient and willing to show me the ropes, even of the most trivial matters. I regularly received feedback from colleagues on my work and told of the importance of my work which really made me feel valued.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Although I didn't get to work in the same team as my manager, I was regularly asked if I understood what I was doing, how I was doing and not to hesitate if I needed any help. I was also messaged by members of HR several times to check up on how I was doing which really helped my transition into the company.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Each day varied as I worked on many different projects so although some days would be slow, other days would be packed full of meetings and deadlines. This kind of work pushed me out of my comfort zone and I feel like I've really gained invaluable skills form this experience.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • To begin with, I was learning about the company more in depth and the day to day activities my team participated in. As I gained more knowledge of the company and its operations, I was set projects that went on to be presented to the executives so I'd say I was given a great deal of responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel like the skills I developed will assist me massively in my future endeavours. The business acumen I gained, the competence in using Microsoft Excel I gained and the ability to analyse financial statements will give me a strong foundation in pretty much any career path I wish to pursue. Beyond work specific skills, I developed a lot simply from being exposed to a professional environment. From how to articulate myself in different situations in the office to knowing when to seize opportunities that arise, everything I did during the internship I believe will aid in my future development personally, as well as professionally.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was better than I'd expected and the interns regularly met up for lunch to discuss how each others' internships were going which attributed to how fulfilling the 11 weeks were.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very expensive but as I expected as the office was situated in Zone 1.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Being Central London, it doesn't really get any better (except for the cost)

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A lot of opportunities such as the JP Morgan Run, weekly touch rugby sessions and many work events.
