    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I totally love my day in BP. I had learnt many things about the Oil and Gas industry from BP. Knowing how things work out in practical makes everything much more sense and interesting after learning them theoretically.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I really felt that I could get along with the people in BP. If I am to be part of BP, I daresay that my colleagues would play an important role in my life positively. The positive vibes and encouragements you get from people around you made me felt valued and wanting to return BP with my very best in work.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The team is fantastic! [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] and her colleagues have answered all our questions perfectly. We get to talk to the employees and learnt how it is like to be in their shoes for a day based in their projects. Personally I find it very useful to know the situation and environment of your prospective workplace as it prepares your mind and soul to thrive the best for it.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills and knowledge I had got out of the Discovery Day is already benefiting me through my course. Looking at how boreholes and electron microscope are used for the industry had me prepare to use it properly with the industrial way during my tutorials.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They sponsored our trip to their Sunbury site in Feltham! However, I have yet to receive any response regarding my reimbursement for the expenses I had paid.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Talking to current employees widened my horizon by knowing how different the workload is in different departments. Some have normal working hours while some that are based in certain areas for their project have longer working hours. However the long working hours are paid back by having a break after the scheduled working time for that project.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • BP is heavily focused on their 5 visions. Safety, Respect, Excellence, Courage and One Team. And you could see them applying these standards throughout their daily lives! Holding the handrail up and down the stairs is a must and really, they do follow the regulations tightly, for which I really respect these culture. They also work hard and play hard so I could see them doing their very best in their jobs and enjoy themselves really well afterwards.
