  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Brilliant, less heavy civils than would have been liked

  • Could not have been treated fairer, offered lots of support and allowed to run with items of work

  • Line manager and buddy could not have been more helpful

  • Continuously altering between site and office work. Allowed to run with sections of work at own pace providing the deadline was met

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was tasked with surveying and then designing steelwork and their foundations. Also allowed to run with de-vegetation and asbestos removal works.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have gained experience in the planning and programming works, and continuously reviewing saftey risk.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great fun, everyone very polite and helpful

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • IT equipment a struggle to get a hold of. No information that the PTS was required.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They invested their time in training me through the PTS course and other onsite necessary qualifications. Alongside this they carried out regular talking on innovations and specific areas of the project.

  • Costain is involved in a variety of interesting projects and they strive to achieve a very high quality

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Several project nights out, including christmas drinks. Weekly 5-a-side football as well

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Lived at home, Standard prices for London

  • London was only a sort distance away, other than that lots of nice local bars/pubs

  • There were a few to visits schools etc, but not many
