The Role
It was a really enjoyable, interesting, and rewarding 10 weeks.
I had a line manager who was really friendly and helped me get to grips with Tesco. The team I worked in also were always at hand to give me a hand if I was stuck.
I pretty much always had something to do as my project gave me lots of scope for me to explore.
I was given my own project to work on with total independence and responsibility over what direction I took the project.
I learned really valuable skills in data analysis and about the retail industry as a whole.
The Company
The office was really relaxed - nothing like the corporate experience I was expecting! Everyone was super friendly and there was always a good buzz about the place. It felt like everyone really enjoyed working there!
There were lots of opportunities to attend masterclasses to help develop skills and learn new things. You could also develop yourself on the online academy if you wanted so there were plenty of opportunities to learn.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Working from home
Everyone has the opportunity to land a place on the graduate scheme come the end of their ten weeks which is a really valuable opportunity!
The Culture
There was an early careers society that ran social events for people to attend as well as the potential for interns to get together for social events.
Welwyn is fairly expensive but a lot of people live in the Finsbury Park area which is slightly cheaper and Hatfield is a student town so has good rent prices.
It was slightly out of the way because it wasn't based in London. However, you could get to London in about 25 minutes on the train so if you really wanted to go out on the weekends then the opportunity was certainly there!
There were lots of sporting events and social events you could join in with.
