    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have enjoyed the experience as the culture & environment is good & all the people are really nice & extremely helpful. However I did not personally enjoy my role as much as the team I was placed with is not the kind of technology role I want to go into, but there is opportunities & time to talk to other teams & explore.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From HR & from guest speakers I felt very welcomed & valued, however sometimes in my day to day role I felt a little excluded & isolated when help was needed, although this is expected as managers have there own jobs to do too. However it would have been nice to have a little more time spent with my manager to understand things.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • 3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was not overly busy on a daily basis, some days were busier than others but on the whole there was a lot of waiting around for others to come over & help or to do something for me so I could continue my work. However there is always reading up to do on things, this is just not the most exciting thing to be doing.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel I was given reasonable responsibility, I was treated like a real employee & given tasks to do that a normal analyst would do & my work included in the project. There was also a large amount of trust in the work I had done & that it was done correctly to a good standard.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel the skills gained would not directly assist me with my degree, however it has helped me to develop personal skills & development areas which will indirectly help with my studies & beyond. However I think the skills I learnt are those things that are not ion my degree (coding) & thus will help me beyond studies once I graduate, having skills I wouldn't have gained otherwise.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I would say the atmosphere in the office is quiet but not in a bad way, people are working & generally the area is reasonable quiet with a few conversations going on, but its easy to talk & ask questions to others or have a chat with someone if you want to.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It seemed like the beginning week of training & HR themselves were very well organised & ready for all the interns with lots of things planned for us to do, however my team didn't seem quite so organised as I had to wait to get assigned task & ask for initial tasks & help.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • At the beginning there was a lot of good training given from both internal & external speakers & seemed like HR had invested a lot in this & organizing it. I also feel like managers from both my team & other team have a lot of time for interns & are investing in helping out as its easy to just talk to anyone & learn.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Regardless of not 100% enjoying my current team I feel Citi is very appealing for future employment prospects as its easy to find out about other teams & move about both as an intern & as a future employee as well as the prospect of personal development in the future.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All the other Tech interns & Grads were very friendly & sociable with drinks every Friday & a few other things during the week. As well as lunch times & sometimes even breakfast in the canteen. Even though people were in different floors of the building &even different buildings everyone stayed in contact & organised meeting up in & outside of work.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I did not live in London as I lived at home, but with regards to socializing, the area is not cheap by any means, its London!, however with the salary that we were paid you can afford to go for a few drinks or go for a meal of something reasonably regularly.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in & around Canary Wharf is good & there are always people going out & socializing, its almost always busy at bars & restaurants after work, sometimes a bit too busy but you're only a sort tube journey away from the center of London with lots of other places to go.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There is always drinks or meals or even Theatre shows to go to & if there's not its easy to plan something & people will join.

    4/5
