    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This internship has been the occasion to learn a lot of different techniques as a scientific background but also to learn a lot about companies and professional work. Working in a company where everyone treats you as a colleague is a very pleasant aspect and they make you feel like you are part of the team.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • You are part of their team. you are doing the same level of job as they do and they are interested in what you are doing even if you work in completely different departments. The company culture made me feel valued because every time you achieve a task you receive messages congratulating for what you have done

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisors were here every time it was needed but were given a lot of freedom on what I was doing, They also gave me a lot of their time even when they were dealing with team's projects that were not related to that. They do their best to make you fell confident. They spread their knowledge and allow you to build your own.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Generally, every day were busy enough to get you doing some work project related. The end of the internship means that you have a lot to do in a short period of time so this is a time when you are extremely busy. I had to do my project that I have been doing since the beginning so I could plan my experiments by myself and manage my time to get work done within the timeline.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • You are working alone and they provide guidance and support for your work when it is needed. Many team's project work have been given to me with confidence. They trust you enough to know that they will have their result on time and compliant with their need. After few trainings you become allowed to work independently in labs.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was studying chemistry and more specifically analytical chemistry so this is perfectly applicable to my studies. In any case, you develop some professional and scientific skills that are not being developed by studying only. This is one of most important aspect of the internship, it is that you get prepared to work in a different context than at university.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was very professional but it was not in a wrong way. Colleagues always welcome you and they always smile and are ready to help. Areas are designed to make people exchanging and spreading ideas so this is really nice and pleasant to work with this atmosphere. Supervisors, colleagues and managers are really easy to talk to.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything has been planned carefully so you can then enjoy your placement and be sure that you will do very interesting work around that. Projects are assigned for a set duration so you know how your placement is flowing. Projects time are well assigned so you start by basic work to then increase the level of tasks you are doing

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They very often give you the possibility to follow some leaning courses that are provided within the company. Some professors sometimes are explaining their work to the company. They also provide an entire week where you have courses in different sites at every time of the day and you can easily access or just watch them so you can then improve yourself and your skills

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Financial Bonus

    Above 25 days holiday

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • As an internship being part of your studies you cannot get a job directly at the end of your internship but being a trainee will help you in future applications. IF your work has been appreciated they will remind you when you apply and if the job matches your skills and their expectations they will hire you instead of someone they don't really know at equal skills.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • good

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The total cost is fine with your salary. House sharing is to be considered.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • You have to go to quite big cities to have an interesting nightlife

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The company is running some activities scientifically related that are a real great opportunity. This aims at teaching science to children in their school by running some funny experiments in front of them and getting them involved in this experiment so they can see the beauty of sciences. These are very easy to do as the company gives you extra time to do that.
