The Role
Enjoyed most of the placement, with the culture and people here being a highlight. Everyone wants to enjoy being at work, as well as help each other
A real job is given from day one, meaning as much responsibility as your peers.
I had two managers over the year, my first one was excellent and experienced with students to really gave me the right opportunities to push myself.
Monthly tasks vary, however there haven't been many times without much to do. Only quiet period were near the start whilst picking things up
Particularly from around 4-6 months into the placement responsibility picked up. Not treated any differently to a full time employee
The placement has completely transformed my confidence, and will be a huge advantage after graduating
The Company
Really fun and casual, everyone is up for a laugh and never boring. Directors stop by for a chat regualrly.
Really well- scheme well structured with HR and finance working together. Regular catch ups to monitor how you're getting on, as well as all sorts of training sessions
Plenty of training day opportunities, as well as a lot of time spent by colleagues teaching different things. They don't leave students to get on with basic tasks, but instead invest the time to bring you to a high level
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
Boots have a great grad scheme, which the placement year feeds straigjt onto. Promotional opportunities here are good
The Culture
There were 21 students, many who lived together. Often nights out and activities together too
I lived at home and commuted rather than moving to Nottingham
Nottingham city centre is great with everything you need
Loads of charity projects to get involved with, and managers are supportive of taking time out to get involved
