Spring Insight Programme Review

I thoroughly enjoyed the Spring Insight Programme at Rothschild. It surpassed my expectations in every aspect.

I felt extremely valued. The HR staff, who we were with most of the time, were very friendly and helpful. The bankers were willing to make time in addition to the scheduled networking and work shadowing.

All employees were very open to answer any questions we had.

As an economics undergraduate, the session 'How to read the FT' was particularly useful in learning how to efficiently absorb information on economic events. In addition, the skills and informations attained from learning about Rothschild's business, the presentation skills workshop, and working as a team on a hypothetical M&A case, would no doubt provide to be relevant for my endeavours beyond degree level.

I felt the programme was very well structured with every element of it being extremely beneficial and enjoyable.

The atmosphere was very well set. Having an ice breaker as our first event and welcome drinks at the end of the first day helped settling in. The friendliness of the employees and interns also contributed in creating an amicable atmosphere.

In particularly, the presentation skills workshop given by an external speech consultant was extremely helpful.

Due to the nature of the Spring Insight Programme, there was no first hand experience, however, it nevertheless provided a thorough insight into the company and the industry. Also, the programme offers a fast track opportunity for the Summer Internship Programme where interns are assigned to a desk.

It was quite clear that Rothschild place a strong emphasis on its values and this was easily noticeable even through simply encounters with employees.

The content of the programme enabled me to reaffirm my desire to take a career path in financial advisory.

Networking opportunities were present over lunch, work shadowing, and directors’ afternoon tea.

The combination of bankers, who were very happy to share their knowledge and experience, with interns, who had a genuine interest in the firm and the industry, led to fruitful networking sessions. We also had significant exposure to senior bankers, many of which have been at Rothschild for a long time, which provided a different touch.

I didn’t actively seek to learn about activities outside of work, however, I learned about the volunteering opportunities at Rothschild, through the corporate social responsibility presentation. I had a chance to put this into practice through a group volunteering session at Body & Soul as part of the programme.
