    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I worked with exceptional people from whom I learnt a lot and who were a lot of fun to be with at the same time. I got a lot of exposure and did work that actually added value.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I got a lot of support from the senior people, I could go to them with every question, they made an effort to get to know me on a personal basis and help me make the most of the internship. The HR department always checked my progress and was willing to facilitate any transfers to different division, should the need arise. They also helped me get as much exposure as possible to different division, so that i got to know other areas of the bank as well.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy as that's what the job in M&A is about, I was prepared for long hours and that's what it turned out to be, but whenever there was not much for me to do, I was told to go home and rest.

  • It was great, people were very friendly, always willing to help.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I got exposure to deals from different sectors, so I got to work with many different teams within the bank. I used many different valuation methods, worked both on pitches and live deals. To help keep the work-life balance ok, there were plenty of events lined up for us by HR, so they even made sure we had fun!

On top of that we got weekly sessions organised by analysts and associates from our division and a lot of on-the-job training as well, with our colleagues always there to run us through any more complex matters.
