The Role
Overall a great experience, I genuinely can’t remember day I wasn’t enjoying the internship experience. It’s important to start an internship with the right mindset/attitude, to be willing to learn something new, and happy to be working on a challenging task.
If you show you’re willing to put the effort in, work hard, be respectful and honest to colleagues, you will be valued by them in return. The work I am doing is beneficial to the wider organisation, and therefore valued.
I believe I was given as much support and guidance possible, given the time & business constraints.
There was never a moment where I did not have any work to do. I was very lucky to be able to choose (in some instances) the task or assignment I wanted to work on. I was given the flexibility to manage my own time.
I was given a appropriate level of responsibility.
I developed more skills than I thought I would, due to the challenging nature of the task. Like most skills they are transferable and useful. The knowledge i gained will be used in my studies and beyond. No formal training was given.
The Company
Everyone in the office was friendly, there were some organised socials. Most teams kept to themselves, mostly due to high workload or nature of the role. It was a bit quite at times.
Considering it was the first official internship scheme, it was organised very well, the interns were from a range of backgrounds, ages and nationalities. We had an official induction day, where the current CEO spoke to us about his background; we had a weekly presentation by senior directors, to talk about their parts of the business, and then had an end of placement presentations we had to give.
It was clear that a lot of time had gone into the programme, recruiting individuals, organising events. Within individual teams a lot was invested in you, so you were able to complete the task.

Company Parties/Events
It is dependent on a few factors. I had a positive experience at DTZ, the company & people are great, its expanding, great potential.
The Culture
Yes there was. Some real characters, great group of people, good mix. we had regular drinks, nights out and lunches. Everyone was very sociable, especially the graduates.
Central London + interns wages = No money saved. However this should be expected and nothing the company could do.
We found lots of good places nearby, however it a bit expensive, just need to buy your drinks during happy hours.
Lots of sporting and social events open to everyone from Tennis to Shakespeare club (which I did not attend).
