    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I very much enjoyed my insight. The people at Citi were all extremely friendly. They showed us how the company worked in many ways through informative presentations as well as group activities. They also gave us a mock interview and mock group interview giving us an insight into the processes of entry to a placement/job. Finally from the technical challenge given to us, I learnt areas of new code ie. PHP, CSS and HTML, whilst also building further on my team-working skills. Overall I found the Citi work experience week very informative and very helpful to a first year Computing Student.

  • Throughout my time at the firm all staff were extremely friendly to me and approachable in any way. If I had a problem during my technical challenge, members of staff were more than willing to help in the areas of difficulty whilst also explaining the solutions.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • If at any time there was any difficulty all members of staff were glad to help. If I had any queries about the company and how it operates, all members of staff I spoke to were very informative in answering my questions.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My time at Citi will help develop my skills in IT greatly. Through Citi I now understand to a greater extent how such a big company operates effectively, how the interview process works for entry to the company, I enhanced my team-working skills massively through group exercises and finally I learnt about new programming languages in IT I had little or no previous knowledge about.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I found it very well structured as from day 1 to the final day, I was always being presented information, meeting staff and learning details about their roles, or being involved in group activities to build my team-working and communication skills further.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere during my insight amongst my other colleagues on the work experience week was happy, this is because Citi constantly gave us information helpful to our educational development, as well as involving us in activities to enhance key skills. A effective work experience program coupled with lovely staff made this insight into IT one of my most enjoyable weeks to date.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company provided books, pens and earphones for everyone on the insight program. They also provided free lunch as well as a grand prizes of tablets for the winners of the technical challenge. I felt the firm invested a lot in us, in providing material as well as their own time.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was not paid or reimbursed, however I never felt that this was necessary due to the wealth of information and vital knowledge supplied to me within Citi. Furthermore the grand prizes of tablets for the winners of the technical challenge was a great motivational factor.
